Article: Trainz + Kickstarter - One week until launch

...

When is the payment needed to be in by ? Is there an expiration date of payment ?

...
What is the maximum amount pledged, in order to get a gauranteed free game when kickstarter is finished ?

If the reward bonus is: between an honorable mention, whoop de doo, atta boy, gold star, next to your screen name ... and a free game (which is not even guaranteed, and you probably won't even get a free game even if you pledge $150).
Still not clear on the concept, eh. As for the start and end dates, I think if you read the KickStarter descriptions you'll find the answers.

Feel free to guess at what is on the list. It is so comprehensive that we dare not release it before the 13th. People may be overcome with emotion and keel over ;)

Just for fun, here's a teaser to keep a number of people (including Vern) happy..

#9. Prototypical timetabling/scheduling system.

(order not indicative of anything).
Feed us another teaser please Tony, the natives are restless.

What could this image refer to? So many symbols, what do they all mean? What does the colour code mean? The name? The circle on the top left?

Well issue a 3 Month FCT or $20 Store Voucher for the first correct answer to these 5 questions!

Well I'd take a stab at it being a reward level graphic (no prizes here though it's in the file name) ;)

I'd take a guess that the icons in white refer to items that are available at lower levels as well, and the gold icons are new for this level. I think the train on a screen icon may be 'World of Rails' and the 'K' icon is T2.

Reckon the "K" next to the chart segment probably refers to total funds raised, in Kilos (thousands of $)

I would pledge $39.95, if it was guaranteed that if, and when, TS14 Kickstarter was finished, that I would get a free copy of the game (but unfortunately this is not so) ?

What incentive is it, to invest money into the development of a game, when you will only have to go out and buy the game anyway, with even more cash out of your pocket ?

If you advance me $5.99 now ... I will bring you a Wendy's hamburger 1 1/2 years from now, and then you can pay me another $5.99.

Which part of the Kickstarter concept do you still not comprehend after is has been laid out at least a dozen times before; (1) if the campaign doesn't succeed, no money changes hands and (2) pledgers will receive T2 as part of the rewards. It is not an investment.

The part about how much money to pledge
Where to pledge at, and why PayPal is not accepted
And the written gaurantee: "pledgers will receive T2 as part of the rewards"
And if I pledge, with a credit card, the money I sent, will have gone someplace ... when will I get it back, or receive a notice that no money has changed hands ? ? ?

Please provide the link ... I am tired of reading the many threads, and links that go on ... and on ... and on ... ("it has been laid out at least a dozen times, or more" ... blah blah blah blah wurds wurds wurds wurds)

me thinks he's already tasted the magic kind.

From KickStarter
If the project you’re backing is successfully funded, your card will be charged when the project reaches its funding deadline. If the project does not reach its funding goal, your card is never charged.

I think folk are missunderstanding what cascade has said. One of the questions he is asking is can we pay via paypal? I believe the answer to that may well be yes.

I believe the answer to that is no. You'll find that many projects set up a seperate system for paypal payments, but they do not count towards the KickStarter total.

I like your thinking butler57, but incorrect.

Thanks for posting the "your pledge money is only deducted if the project is successful" information. I realize Kickstarter is a new concept for many Trainz fans and it is a revolutionary one for game fans of all types. The more projects I explore, the more I believe this is the best way identify the level of support for a project. I suggest you take a look around the site to see how some other projects are faring.

For fans of Myst and Riven from many years ago, you may be interested in looking at the Obduction Kickstarter from Cyan. Their project, after raising $500,000 in just 5 days is now sitting at close to $800,000. With just 9 days to go, it will be very interesting to see if they reach their $1.1M target. Fwiw, I believe they will hit their target on the final day, in the final hour.

Also take a look at Next Car Game, who are looking for $350,000 from their supporters.

KickStarter have just sent me a notice to say that projects in Australia and New Zealand will be accepted from next week. As a matter of interest what currency will the Trainz project be in please?

Aha! Taking inspiration from the table showing the rewards for the Obduction Kickstarter project, which may have influenced the N3V team somewhat, then the two downwards pointing arrows in the teaser Tony posted probably related to digital downloads of the T2 game & manual and perhaps a strategy guide for Surveyor or prototypical signalling or similar. (Hardly think it will be a soundtrack for Trainz, but you never know what N3V have been discussing so far to date with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra!)
I like the way they show the matrix of rewards for backers in the Obduction promo - very clear and easy to understand.
Ain't speculation wonderful?!!

Hi Tony, I think that our locos will provide for a driver and and engineer. By clicking on the train icon, gives access to the engineer who can select a train, the 2nd icon lists the various duties, the down arrows are acknowledgement or acceptance of the duty, the first key denotes switching the loco 'On' or 'Off' and the 2nd locks or saves the info and the tick is the OK button. Maybe the circle in the top left corner could indicate the level of engineer.
