Ja, it's too bad that none of the supplied routes have water that looks anywhere close to that good. For instance, the C&O Hinton route sold me right there...buy it, can't wait! Gotta have West Virginia in the 50's!

Oh, wait...what are those white shield-looking things in the New River? Rapids? And oh, by the way, why is US Interstate 64 passing through Sandstone? You know when that stretch of highway was completed? 1988!

So much for historical accuracy, or anything close to it...

Pretty picky about my route ain't we. On the topo maps I used, Interstate 64 was on it, should have used earlier historical topo maps, my fault there. Rapids, well blame N3V, they designed them as there ain't no good animated rapids to be found that I could see, I just used what I could. As for historical accuracy, well, lets see.......all the buildings I did are from historical drawings, all the yards and track work are from supplied track charts, dem as supplied by USGS.

And also, as I am not allowed to do a major update of said route to fix these few in-accuracies because it might probably stuff up N3V's re-work of the sessions I supplied, you'll have to wait until the next release.

Well, your standing in a glass house so I'd be careful where you throw the next stone...........

Picky? You betcha! C&O Hinton is my favorite layout, and my go-to route when I feel like a good drive. Perhaps that is why I am so picky? I am throwing stones indeed, at the underwhelming river! :cool:

After the wait and the slight hassle with the update taking 4hrs to download and then taking 4 hours before i gave up trying to get to authenticate and it finally doing it next log on with no hassles ??? i want to say what has been delivered so far is great though i find as TANE is much better lit that MOST of the old TS12 ground colours are blindingly bright, this is not a complaint but simply a statement of fact.

Question: has the smoke deflecting around objects and rain not going into tunnels been enacted yet ??? or does it require special object types for it to work ??

the rock and roll effect is good, makes riding in the cab much more realistic though the new Blue Princess loco was a bit sea sick inducing when for some reason the game reset my speed limits to 193 KMH and allowed the poor old princess to go that fast !

when are we getting the exploding squirels and the cows with guns (see Tonys link to the video clip for reference)???

Yes, it does. Pre-TS12 splines, bridges and and spline tonnels (exc. tonnels with tonnel 1 tag) do not support that feature. Only splines with track-lod-tree and static objects support that. And, may it be, old tonnels (that have 45 deg. step for portal direction)

TS12 doesn't able to increase the brightness of textures, so shiny day emulation in TS12 is possible with overbright textures only. So they are.

A complete ripoff. We have already paid for this product. It is acknowledged as buggy and needing a patch before it is even delivered. Now they want $20 (more, I assume, for international customers) just to bring it up to the standard that was provided at release date.

NOT an adequate response to those users who cannot, and never could have, downloaded an in-game patch of that size, and paid extra to get the boxed version in the first place.

At cost??? Not according to my postal calculator.

I don't think it's a ripoff - it costs money to post new discs and it likely costs money to get new discs created as well.

I bit the bullet and successfully patched my box on a 3G mobile connection which actually held up for the 4 hours it took to download and patch. I was very sceptical that it would work however it did, perfectly.

It might not be a ripoff, but it's certainly illegal. Australian Trade Practices legislation has penalties of up to $1.1m for failing to disclose the full price of a product at sale time. They have recently conducted a campaign against some very large on-line providers, who were forced to change their tactics as a result. Perhaps N3V believes they can sneak under the radar, or perhaps they believe it doesn't apply to overseas sales.
 
I really think N3V is trying to correct what they have messed up, by getting rid of DRM and being open about changes.

I for one will pay the money gladly so i can replace my first run disk with the updated one, as not only will i now not have to chew up valuable download data with a 8 gig patch every time the game has to be reinstalled.

The most important thing is if we don't support N3V and do not give them a chance to fix things not only could we lose further development of the game but also our community furoms and download station will also be under threat, i for one have a love hate relationship with Trainz it can drive one up the wall at times but i still think it is worth saving it.

Actually, what you have stated doesn't apply. The disc replacement is separate from the original purchase and is there for those who cannot download the patch for some reason if you bother to read the article correctly.

'Separate from the original purchase' is what the hire car companies tried to say. It didn't work for them, either.

The point you are deliberately ignoring is that the 'some reason' they cannot download the patch is exactly the reason that they ordered to DVD version.
 
That may be, but things don't always work out the way users want (even for other companies).

I am not ignoring your comment, I'm simply stating what the situation is. At least N3V are offering a workaround for the issue though even if people like you aren't happy with it.

I for one think the idea of replacement DVDs for $20 was a perfect solution. I am one who has such a slow Broadband that an 8GB patch was out of the question.
I am now waiting eagerly for my email so I can order the replacement.

i've ordered the Deluxe version as my original DVD was deluxe. The one thing that has caused confusion is that Tony Hilliam said that REPLACEMENT DVDs would be available. This Hotfix1 seems as though the original DVD has to be loaded and then the Hotfix disk applied to it.
