Bob,

Are they open during the winter or are they closed until the summer (remember most museums out by me are closed because of the SNOW )?

Hi dh2k3: As far as I know the ones in this area are open..I do know that the Grand Canyon RR runs in the winter but it might be advisible to call..They get alot of snow up in Flagstaff..

I've heard that from relatives that it gets pretty deep in Flagstaff. I may not be out there until after the new year so you never know.

And while in Flagstaff, you must visit Chinle and have a tour round the canyon, not train related, but well worth the visit long before trains were around !!!

Phoenix gets snow once every few years. Wait a few hours; it's usually gone by afternoon.
You'll need a good jacket for the morning chill. Temperatures drop below freezing at night. You'll also need a light shirt for warm weather. Daytime temperatures will be in the 70s or low 80s in the afternoon. By 10:00 you shouldn't need the jacket until early evening. But when the temperatures drop in the evening they go down fast. Be ready.

so in other words typical Chicago weather in the winter time then :) I'll keep that in mind when packing. Thanks Claude :)
