Are you a rail photographer??

Yesterday I took a trip to the Nambour Museum, to see and photograph their locomotives.

The two-cylinder, two-bogie shay, called 'Shay'. This locomotive is actually the combination of two locomotives. The tramway that owned this locomotive and another Shay decided to downsize, so they took the best parts of each engine and built one locomotive out of them. The bogies and smokebox from the other Shay still survive.


This next locomotive is the ex-Moreton Sugar Mill 0-6-0T 'Eudlo'. She once rolled over and evidence of the repairs - mainly on the smoke stack and in the cab roof and bracing - can still be seen.


Next is ex-Moreton Mill 0-4-2 'Bli Bli'.


And last but not least is 'Valdora'.

I love how they put what type of engine it is on the side, so when you see a train with non-railfans, you can act all smart and say, "Oh thats a GP38-2".
 
The bottom one is the ES40DC, and I was joking. Anyway, I am only a casual railfan, and the only place where I railfan is at the bottom of a bridge, so it can be hard to see.
 
9172 is a Dash 9-44CW, while 7623 is an ES44DC. Norfolk Southern upgraded their Dash 9-40CWs and ES40DCs from 4,000 horsepower to 4,400 horsepower. The last 1,086 locomotives on Norfolk Southern's roster (#8889-9978) are all Dash 9-44CWs, while #7500-7719 are all ES44AC's.

I know, but the side still says ES40DC, so it's an ES40DC. I call it by what it says, not what it technically is.
 
Finally marking UP 1983 off the list! Caught me by total surprise on what I believe is train MNPHK. She still looks shiny from her rebuild after they blew her up!
