Are we on Pandora?

Take a look at this. It's supposed to be an Elephant ear plant. I never knew these could get so big; that is, unless we're on Pandora!

Plant Elephantear01, KUID :523:1214, and Plant Elephantear02, KUID :523:1524

The ElephantEar02 is 'only' 5.3 meters high. For really gross plants try:
Plant Banana 01,<kuid:523:1174> 14 meters high
Plant Banana 02,<kuid:523:1482> 17 meters high
Plant SaguaroCactus 01,<kuid:523:1069> 14.6 meters high

I think the scaling is off alittle on some of the Speed Tree assets. Is that adjustable in Trainz?

Bob

Apparently that is only something Auran can change as they have not made arrangements for Trainz content creators to legally create their own speedtrees.

Elephant ear plants can get quite large (but not that large).

When my grandkids were little, in the pool, and it started to rain (no thunder and lightening) we would cut them each a big elephant ear for them to hide under so they wouldn't get wet (don't ask me to explain that, lol).

If you think that that is bad, there is this one cluster of white flowers. While it looks good by itself, once you place anything next to it, you realize that it is the size of a car.

At least you can see them. :)

There are some flowers and plants that are so small they blend into the ground texture, and look like dust.

After I posted, I Googled Elephant Ear, and found that they grow in rainforests. I guess in that case, they could get quite large. On Pandora, they would probably be at least three times the size on Earth:D

I'm thinking of creating a route for Pandora, as in Avatar. But I would need the DEM's for the moon, to make it anywhere near prototypical.
Otherwise, I can create a "Pandora like" planet where everything (including the people) is super-sized.
Then I need some really big train cars for them to ride in. They're 9ft tall!
Maybe I could kit-bash some passenger cars, or use Amtrak's Superliner cars with the 2nd deck cut out.

Of course all of the trains will have to be environmentally friendly.

This is an interesting idea. Do DEMs exist for the Moon or Mars? ie. has NASA on one of its many missions obtained the DEM data for these bodies? I quite like the idea of creating a DEM of somewhere on Mars.....:D

i'm pretty sure there is dem for both the moon and mars. Im also pretty sure that you can view them on google earth.

To scale the trains different it would be easier to just make tiny humans. and assume that 1 meter on pandora is 2 earth meters. Way less work that way!

Mars or Moon???

My Trainz drive on Mars now with the "original" Mars-surface :D. But it is not easy. NASA has no datas what you can use with trainz. The Earth is no problem, I use them with my second project. But Mars is quite dificult. If you understand German or you know someone, look at http://home.arcor.de/sernie73 There is a link to Trainz2007, where you can have a short look at half a year work to convert Mars-data to usable height-infos.

Actually, the moon I referred to was Pandora, from the movie Avatar. But I have considered both Mars and our moon. There are GE maps, but I don't think you would be able to geo-reference them for TransDem.

It's OK. I really like creating my own landscapes best.
