I've just uploaded another session for Downtown Traction Company called "April Fuels". It is for TRS2004 and 06, and for TRS2009 in Compatibility Mode.

AprilFuels_01.jpg

Syd and Jim, Dispatcher here. The fuel run this morning.
You will find tank cars and flats in Classification; tank cars at the loco depot, Fuddruckers Fuels, Industry 8, and the Port; and hoppers at the Port.
Fill the tank cars at the Petrochemicals Plant, Petro1, and the hoppers at Minerals Processing, Min3.
Unload and leave one hopper at each of Gasnlite, 7b, Fartes, 5d, and the Steel Works, Steel1.
Drop off and leave one tank car at the loco depot, one at Fuddruckers, 8, one at the Port and two at April Fuels, 6a.
The logs on the flats are for the Port, Port3.
Reload the flats with I beams at the Port, Port3, and deliver these to the Justin Case warehouse, 5b.
Contact me when done.

TRS2004, 06 and 09 users should download this file to obtain the Y&S boxcab:

TRS2004 users should also download this file for the tank cars:

All other assets are on the Download Station. The session should take about 1h45 to complete.

Just a note - it does pay to plan movements in advance. As an example, I decided to leave the flats loaded with the I-beams at the Port while I loaded the tank cars and hoppers, knowing that I would have to return to the Port with one of the tank cars.

Taking a route that allows the freight cars to be propelled directly into spurs instead of running round the train in a loop also helps.

Nice screen shots and I especially like the shadows in the first pic.

Do those shadows eat up the frame rates?

Hello Everyone,

What type of locos can I use to run this traction route from Phil!!

I need suggestions, if you have any please!
Hopefully i get some responses!!

Thanks :)

Hi Phil
I've just got round to trying this new route and sessions ( my computer packed up on xmas day ) and I'm having some issues with the loco in April Fuels, namely, I can't stop the bugger.

In cab mode ( what else is there ) in the first session Farmall,Q releases the brake, Z put lap on and A puts full brake.

with the loco in April fuels Q releases, Z puts lap on but A won't brake, and nor will any other key.

I'm not moaning at you cos you didn't make it, I just wondered if you had any insights.
cheers
Roy

Hi Roy --

"In cab mode ( what else is there ) ... ."

But of course. What else is there. We both know that DCC is for quiche-eating Prius-driving meterosexuals.

I could have also easily make a cab attachment point so that there was a cab view for that boxcab, but it's not mine to fiddle with. Justin has sort of promised a possible update at some indeterminate point in the future anyway.

I've just tried the initial part of the session with the tank cars. The brakes work perfectly for me. Q, A, Z and E are all present and correct. Do they still work for you in that earlier session? Perhaps consider installing the loco again?

You might also like to try the electric locomotives from here:

http://www.spaintrainzrutas.com/electricas.html

Despite the 100m radius curves on DTC they don't look at all out of place. If you are running TS2009 you will find that the 276-class has wonderful pantograph sparking effects.

Hi Phil

I deleted the loco files in TO and reinstalled, no difference.
when I tried before I was just trying to get " application" in the drop down box by pressing "A".
after trying on the move I realize that "E", which I tried before but standing still, will stop the loco.

all I get is "Q" release, "A" initial, "Z" lap, "Z" followed by "A" should be "application", I get zilch.
most peculiar!

just have to use emergency brake all the time, the way I drive sometimes all braking is an emergency :hehe: :hehe: .
closely followed by a handful of "other direction":D

cheers
Roy

Hi Roy --

I'm sure that you know all this, but for any others:

"E" is the independent brake toggle on/off. In real life this applies the brakes only on the Engine by opening a valve that admits compressed air to the brake cylinders on the locomotive only.

"A" (Application) applies the brakes on the whole train by opening a valve that admits compressed air to the brake cylinders on all vehicles in the consist, including the locomotive. Press it once to open the valve and you should see the brake cylinder pressure rise. Press it several times to open the valve more and the brake cylinder pressure should rise quicker.

"Z" is the lap position. This closes the valve that is admitting air to the brake cylinders so the brake cylinder pressure remains constant (well, actually it rises until it reaches an equilibrium level and then stays constant at that level).

"Q" releases the brakes by letting the air out of the cylinders.

In real life it is all a bit more complex than this with triple valves, air reservoirs, ... .

In the simulation, "Z" followed by "A" gives an immediate full application. I suspect that this does not happen in real life.

It all works for me on that boxcab.

Hi Phil,

I jsut got back online so work will resume on the nightmode version .... as I said a couple of weeks ago, before moving from one town to another, I am almost done with it, sir!! LOL

Well maybe we can see if Phili still has this engine, after all he is still an active member. I personally think bumping old threads start by users who are still active is not as bad as ones that are bumped started by people who are no longer in the community.

Hey Guyz,

The guy has 10 posts to his credit, so I gave him a passed, since I came across the thread myself yesterday -- Obviously, new to the forum, so maybe he doesn't know that you can send Phil a PM, and ask his question directly!

Of course, Phil is alive and kicking ... just spoke to him via PM the other day!

It's OK guys. In fact I'm a little chuffed that some of my older work is still being downloaded.

Rapidshare went belly up quite some time ago. With it went several of my files.

But I've found a copy of the original on my HDD and I've just uploaded that little boxcab to my Dropbox folder. Yes, I've tested it, and it also works in T:ANE. Be aware, though, that it does not have a cab view. If I ever do an update (though I'm always hopeful that the original author, Justin Cornell, will do an update first) the cab view will be incorporated.

For those interested, download here:
