... But what I meant about those pics was that it seems like 5 minutes ago I sat down to write those programs.
And it's actually 12 years!
Frightening!
I have all of your stuff from your website from yesteryears in my external hard drives -- Actually, it's a very very old EHD... I have 3 others EHD, thereafter, but
I always kept the old with all of the trainz stuff back then from trainz 1.3 from 3rd party programs that came out during that era, etc .... how time flies, uh, Smiley? ...
Wow .... 12 years, indeed!
No I feel Old. Was that long ago since we did scenarios
Wow, that's really cool to hear. Thanks.Hello Smiley, My first and only upload to download station was a scenario written with your wonderful Stopgap2 program. I will always miss the true scenario!
I have a working NES as well that I fixed up. I have a great list of game ranging from games like Super Mario Bros to The Legend Of Zelda. It's fun to play every once in a great while. Anyway, even though I never have used your program smiley, I'll just say that it looks like a useful tool to use!Lol, yeah, I know what you mean.
I have both a NES and an Atari 2600, both with a large catalogue of games, still in working order (somewhere in the loft).

This is amazing stuff, Smiley. This was before my time with Trainz, but I remember the early days too. My bro and I were talking about this yesterday. He came across one of the early demo videos about Surveyor. I think it was one that Rob Shaw had put together. My bro showed me the video and I downloaded the early Trainz demo which crashed on my system because of my ATI8500 which crashed just about every game I tried. I roughed it out until December 2003 when I had upgraded my video card to an early GForce model and got TRS2004. I've been here ever since!
So much has changed yet so much as stayed the same when it comes to computers.
That scripting interface is interesting. Does it still work for the stuff we use today or can it be updated?
John
I'd love to get back to writing stuff for Trainz, but I think that all bases are pretty much covered these days.
I will be getting back to modelling though.
Got some good plans for T:ANE in that area.
@Ish: Yes, life really does have a lot of up and downs over 12 years. I've been through the same.
I had a lot of fun with people's response to StopGap, and I'm glad it gave some enjoyment to some people. Good times.
The person you're thinking of is probably TafWeb (Terry Franks), and his amazing program was TrainzObjectz.
What an amazing program that was. We'd have been lost without it, for sure.
And I remember his scripted shunting layout too. The first of it's kind, and I spent many hours on that.
He was definitely first with 3rd party programs and scripting.
I know he left before I did. I hope he's well. The granddaddy of the Trainz world!
Smiley.
Thanks for the nice comments Ish.
And most of the things on that list of yours are doable...so you never know!
