Anyone own an E-Type Jaguar?

I want to model a 1966 vintage 2-seater 4.2L e-type Jaguar, but can't find a suitable set of photos to use as textures.

If you happen to own one of those beasts, or see one in your neighbourhood that you would be prepared to take photos of, could you please PM me?

I don't have that exact type of Jag, but I do have access to a different type of Jag if you are interested. As well as a Acura and 2 types of Jeeps, this is of course if you are interested.

No it has to be a Jag of the type I described. I'm doing this as a thank you for Epoch3bis4, so I want to meet his request as closely as possible.

It's really proved impossible so far to get a set of pics of the same vehicle from all angles, and to have such consistent lighting that all surfaces have similar brightness, while at the same time not having unfortunate reflections. Normally Jag owners have them in a highly polished state, so reflections are a real problem. Jalopnik.com has some from all the angles, but the shadows, reflections and glare ruin some of the vital views.

And don't get me started on how difficult it is to reproduce that sexy Jag shape..:o

Deane ,

Don't have a Jag , but I do have a 1929 Ford , model A pickup . It has not been restored , and I believe it might be something you would want to do someday . I have seen your work and would be honored to see it on the DLS . I know there is one or two there now , but your work is top notch .
Keep me in mind for the future , I can supply any photos .

Continue your great creations and hope someone supplies pictures of the Jag , and someday maybe I'll see my little 'A' on the DLS !

When you insure a classic car on an agreed value policy you have to send them a lot of pictures. Front, back, sides, top, interior, engine... and so on.

I would bet just about every E-Type owner on that forum I linked to has a set of pics like that.

Failing that, when and where is your next Jaguar owners club show? Then you can take your own pictures. Again I'd bet that owners would be more than happy for you to photograph their car.

Mike.

I know it's not a 66 model but I took photos of this one recently. If anyone wants them, let me know

All I needed was one front, one back (showing number plates)....

I don't suppose that one of the plastic models would be useful?

You could paint it any matt colour and you can adjust the lighting to get an even illumination.

You could try borrowing the TDU E-Type jag :P No reflections there! haha.

Okay, I am going to have to call my stepdad on this one. One of his customers has a 1966 E type, so I might be able to ablige you, though it might take a while depending on where it is at the moment.

Wow, keep going with that.

My attempt so far is 800 polys, no wheels added yet. But it looks like crap in so many ways. The images from different pictures just don't go together seamlessly. I'm almost a shamed to reveal this, but just want to show you what strife I'm having.

That looks like a 2+2, which had a higher roofline.

The 2+2 was introduced in '66 I believe and is the only difference between any of the series 1 E-Types. (The 3.8 and 4.2 were identical apart from the engine and badges)

I think a lot of these jags would be in British Racing Green... Quite a few hard tops were used in saloon car racing...

Hi,

Strangely, most of the ones I remember were the Ferrari Red.... (OK, Jaguar called it a different colour!)

As Mike says, there was the original 2 seater, then the 2+2 (higher roofline & upholstered shelf behind the front seats for a couple of midgets (poeple - not the cars!).

the 2+2 (IMO) spoilt the roofline & body line for very little benefit (the windscreen was taller and more vertical - the roof line - such as it was - too high.)

The hardtop (as per JohnK) was a different bodyshape.

IIRC the bonnet was one piece - yes - all of it! That makes the modelling difficult because it's all curves that blend one into another....
