Any good online Tutorials?

I'm trying to create my own route from scratch (I tried DEM, which I didn't like too much, if someone could help me explain how I could use Photoshop to create terrain, that would be awesome!) but I really have no idea how to properly lay track (line them up, let them run parallel etc) or how to make industries or even passenger stations work.

So if anyone knows any sites or pdf's around where track laying, making industries and towns work, that would be awesome!
