Annual forum visitors survey?

I just had a pop-up message asking me to take part in a survey for the Auran forums. Is this a genuine Auran/N3V initiative or a phishing scam?

OK, I closed the pop-up just in case... I'm getting a lot of this unwanted stuff since installing a freeware DVD-authoring utility called DVDStyler. I think I will un-install it and hope it un-installs itself and it's intrusive add-ons completely.

I suggest you go through control panel uninstall a program and uninstall anything you don't recognise.

It uses the Opencandy malware bundler which seems for some unknown reason to be used these days by people who used to produce good free from junk software.

Malwarebytes should deal with it, if that fails then adwcleaner from bleepingcomputer.com http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

I just ran into this today, myself. The only thing is it came via a javascript from "somewhere". My system started popping up messages periodically for sales things and acting really sluggish. My suspicions proved 100% spot on when Malwarebytes found the same OpenCandy stuff.

Thanks chaps. Uninstalled the program itself and associated adware like FileFrog, via Control Panel, followed by a rinse with CCleaner. Seems to have rectified things.

In passing, one of the negative reviews of DVDStyler reminds me a lot of another program close to our hearts....see if you can guess which one I mean :hehe:;

"I don't know how long I've been using this program but it's been a few years. Used to be pretty good - not many bells and whistles but fairly reliable. The creator makes changes frequently without much testing and it seems to spiral downward into lots of features that don't work or don't work correctly and tons of issues that aren't addressed..."
