AnnouncingTrainz™ Simulator 2009 & Trainz™ Simulator X

In my opinion there's not much point in buying 9 or X if the routes you spend months on don't show on the Download Station after several uploads.

At present - count me OUT!

Angela

I somewhat agree, but isn't that why we have sites like the famed www.rrmods.com? Me, as for buying it, I would need to know the specs for it, and if there is any eastern us content, then I decide...

PS. Nobody has answered my qestion if there is a tool to diagonaly cut baseboards.

trs09 and trs x

these two games tr09 and ts x sounds good to me too I would like them both right now . but does any one knows the computer requirements for the two game listed above. hope to have some good sessions and alot of sessions that will come with these 2 games. also hope I can go to surveyor and take an engine or rolling stock and place it to a session the ones I picked I would use to make it more interesting and more rolling stock to choose from from the surveyor for the industries, and the dls. if that makes any sense. also to bulid new sessions under surveyor.

Hi BM;
From what I can gather, reading various post:-
As much Ram as you can afford, 3 Gigs seems to be the general choice, for smooth running, and a 256 MB graphic card.

As you probably know, Trainz recommended specs, are always underrated: IE: 2006:- Recommended 512 MBs, try running your average route on 512 and you have problems with frame rates Etc.

I intend to update to 3.5 Gigs (Max that XP can handle, don't like Vista) and I've already got a 512 Card. Hopefully that should work without the blasted stuttering.
Hope this has been helpful
Cheers
Pete.

Great i'll be getting it then i was waiting for some sort of specs to come out, but will it work on vista?

Thank You Josh:wave:

Windows 7 beta will be out soon. Who wants to double beta test?

I believe you can find a Beta now .. if you look in the right places ;) Since it's not officially sanctioned though , I think I'll pass on the bloatware until I can get a copy of 7lite from nuhi :D

From what I've read about W7, according to Microsoft big wigs, the OS will support anything that has been written that works with Vista.

We'll wait and see because this is still in pre-Beta as well and you know as well as I that specs change as the product matures.

Hi

Microsoft windows 7 is not due to be released until Q1 2010, long way off yet and Windows 7 is currently in beta testing phase, won't say much, but I'll tell you one thing it's solid and more stable than vista.

Regards

Ahsan:)

Hi Ahsan,

That's Good news for the anti-Vista brigade (myself included), but how much of your computer resources will it eat up.
I know its early stages yet, lets hope MS considers this.

Yes.
If you are using XP though, it will only recognise 3.5 Gigs. Which should run like a dream, hope so, its what I have :D

2009 3D Engine Improved?

These questsions are aimed at Auran since they are regarding whats under the hood in the new 2009:

Hi, While I am excited about the 2009 release I have to admit I am also a little concerned. I have been using 2004-2006 and the more recent Classics and since I am assuming by the "been in development for x years" is building in top of what you already have I have the following questions:

1. Currently the visibility system doesn't seem overly effective, I go in a tunnel and everything outside the tunnel is still being drawn, also anything behind the camera or outside of what the cab can see is still drawn - has a proper visibilty system been developed for 2009?

2. I should be able to place hundreds and hundreds of trees / buildings with my rig but it looks like the 3d engine is changing texture state each call to draw primative in d3d which is going to severly impare newer cards - has batching been implemented in 2009 with texture sorting?

3. leading on from 2 is d3d9 instancing also implemented?

4. have you switched to texture blending for the terrains so the work is done on the card and to cut down on the wasted polys from using alpha to blend?

5. CPU side - I take it 2009 will support multi cores?

I think if the answer to those are a yes im happy, otherwise with a higher polygon count and the fact that classic demos that ship with the product drop to 2fps sometimes on my quad core 3 sli top of the range system I may have to skip this one. The "other" on the market manages all this - I Hope the engine has got the attention it needs.

Look forward to your response.

Kind regards,
Arthur.
