Animated Switches/Junctions

The basic method of creating a switch in TrainZ 2009 (probably other versions) while usable, is not very visually correct. Workarounds have been developed and they do work. However, using them is certainly not as easy as making switches in the less appealing basic manner.

Are there any plans to build into Trainz 2009, or other versions, a way to make visually correct animated switches?

I'm sorry but I am not totally familiar with TZ2009 yet.Can you give me an idea how to apply the existing 2009 switches? All i seem to make are the standard style.

Switches 2009

Hi Dick:
click on surveyor mode. Then click on the House Tab, on the top type in turnout, should pop up. It will match circles when laying track.

Boleyd,

I use the animated junctions created by Andi Smith. Search for Andi06 on the DLS. More info and instructions on Andis' web site:

http://www.ajsmith.nildram.co.uk/trs/junction01.shtml

Its important to realise that the switches are basically made up of three parts.

1) The visual element is a "scenery" item (follow Bobs instructions). Once you have placed the item select the (?) button and click on the item and you will get a panel giving you options for the type of track etc.

2) The second element is a "track" item, this is invisible track on which the trains actually run. See Andis' documentation for instructions on "wiring up"..

3) Last there is the lever, this is a trackside item. A defaullt style lever is automatically be placed when you do the "wiring up" but you can substitute this for a lever of your choice.

Don't be put off if this all seems a little complex initially, once you have done a few it's really quite quick and easy.

HTH,

Chris

I have been able to use the Andi06 switches. I was hoping that by now that functionality would be present in the released program.

That functionality is present in TS2009, as pointed out by Bob Cass, only problem is it doesn't show up in all the old content that was included in the release.
