Amtrak Trainz Group Needs Your Help
I recently got word from our current file host (not the forum, where we keep the cdps). That they are removing their free hosting options by April. This means that by April all free-hosted files will be removed from their servers. Unfortunately this means that we will no longer have a place to store files.
What we need:
We are a zero-budget organization. We are looking for anyone would has spare web server space we can use to upload our content for people to download. Most files are around 10-15MB, so hosting would have to be able to handle that. I would estimate that for now we would need no more than 5GB of space.
Please Contact Peter (PerRock) if you would be willing to donate the needed server space. Or know of a reliable free host that meets the above criteria.
**Why I'd prefer not to use these options:
*Most free web host have a limited amount of space they giver you, usualy about 50MB. We would very quickly reach this limit & would end up needing multipul hosting sites set up.
*I dislike using free file hosts, as they tend to be full of ads & other stuff (viruses, trojans, etc); and not everyone can use them.
*The DLS. There are a number of items you must agree with to upload stuff to the DLS, I'm sure most of you who have uploaded items haven't actually read them. However the the biggest reason I don't upload is that I must agree to allow Auran to have the ability to sell anything on the DLS (by including it in a version of TRS). I have entered into agreements with other 3rd parties which state that the items used cannot be used for profit.

There is another option. However in the past this option has proven to be less-desirable and not that great at generating support. That option is to open up donations & possibly even require some. It is not an option I would like to take, but may become necessary in order to keep AMTZ's doors open.
