It seems like any thread I start seems to end in 2 days!:'(:confused:I,m not very good at scenery and stuff like that, but I am good at track laying!:D:DWhat do you think?:eek:

I haven't seen these threads you mention.
Just make what you want for your happiness and if someone doesn't like it, that's their issue. Don't worry about what others think too much or you will never be happy doing this.

Well that wasent very nice:(.

Sam, I am not very good at threads myself. I am registered on the ship sim forum and I rarely start topics. I too only have topics that go on for maybe even 5 minutes before they are forgotten. Sometimes, you get luckey and the topic is a bog hit! Take a topic made yesterday on the SS forum. It was a pointless topic, yet, it made 7 pages in 2 days:eek:. Topics can be hard, especially when you have to find a subject ;).

Wow... how mean, rude, and inmature. I hope that you've given me the impresson that you dont like new people. You were new at one point. Be more welcoming. I'm not leaving the forums just because the word "newbie" or indeed its male cousin "noob", that would show that I can't tolerate that stuff. I can't, but its not going to stop me from visiting. I love this forum too much, and the majority of the people are still nice, with some rotten apples or "black" sheep so to speak. Can we be a bit more considerate towards our new comers? Sounds like a deal to me..

Man... Seems that people can't take a joke anymore!

This is why these forum are not fun anymore. Everyone seems to take jokes, such as above, literally!

But, the above is true... You are all noobs, at something... As am I...

Practice! My first route was pretty hopeless, and I only ever posted a handful of shots of the better parts on here after probably a year's worth of work. I've got better as time goes on, but I still see other peoples work and think - 'I wish my route looked that good'. I suspect we all do from time to time. Personally, I don't post shots of my work unless I'm happy with it - I'm probably my own worst critic.

So, accept that there will always be someone better. Look at the world outside and work out how you can do it in Trainz. Look at other people's work and see how they've done it. Accept constructive criticism, most people only want to see you get better. Ignore those who only want to knock a neewbie.

Oh, and Magicland is only teasing - he's been around here for a lot longer than most. He'd probably call me a noob after almost 5 years... :o

Paul

p.s. nothing wrong with being a noob - we were all there once...

Am I a noob? Don't know but you can diagnose yourself!

Honestly, I have never heard the term noob until recently so I did some research. According to the Urban Dictionary a noob is:http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=noob

As to the question: "Am I a noob?" I don't know but you can diagnose yourself in light of the definition. Further, thread like this certainly do draw attention. Often the negative kind.

Coc states 13. Submitting messages that are inflammatory and made simply with the intent to provoke disruption to the forum or chat room and encourage, incite or continue ‘flame’ messages. ‘Trolling’ and baiting will not be tolerated. Messages that are disruptive and destructive in character will not be tolerated. Flaming is deemed to include insulting, personally directed criticisms and/or messages that include comments aimed to incite anger. Trolling is deemed to include messages aimed to incite disruption or stir up trouble. For example, posting to a thread or starting a thread without the intent to contribute positive suggestions or comments. Instead, the aim is negative and disruptive comments.

or CoC 16. Submitting messages that personally attack, insult, threaten, harass or are clearly disrespectful of the opinions of other participants. This means, if you are engaging in debates that involve challenging, questioning and disputing the opinions and views of others, you are required to do so in a civil manner and ensure that your messages are relevant and on-topic. This rule does not exclude messages that are critical or questioning. It does, however, require that you carefully consider the tone of language in such messages to ensure that they are civil.

The problem is threads like this draw negative comments that have little or nothing to do with enjoying the game Trainz. My understanding of the term noob in light of the definition is insulting to say the least. Therefore, if I say yes you are a noob then I am in effect insulting you in violation of the code of conduct. The question itself may also be a violation of the CoC in regards to "baiting" or asking a question in order to receive a negative response. That may or may not be the intent here, I don't know, but I do know this, other members my be drawn into a fight and that is not what this forum is about.

My suggestion here is for everyone not to respond directly to this question. Whether you are a noob or not means very little to me so please diagonose yourself.

btw I am not a mod nor have any authority here whatsoever nor do I want any. This is suggestive only.

Starting a thread that has nothing to do with trainz does no improve the longevity of your thread. Start a topic and keep on it. As this thread is wobbling terribly, I'm inclined to close it.
