Alastair's origin.

might be back?
Hi im just wondering where the idea came from to blame Alastair for crashing all of the trains. (other than the fact that he routinely forgets signals when i put him on my route.) Is it a glitch or bug or something that caused it to begin. Im just wondering.

Careful treading on this one, Alastair's likeness was based on a well liked now departed Trainzer. Because of alphabetical order, his avatar driver was always first on the list, so naturally good or bad events centered around him.

You just never heard about the good events.;)

Surely Adair is at the top of the list?

Correct; it was only in TRS2004 that Alistair was at the top of the driver's list, and thus most likely to be present in one-train sessions.

Nonetheless, the whole idea of Alistair being at fault behind all AI mismoves caught on and quickly became somewhat of a meme, only ending with the tragic, accidental death of the forum member behind the face. May he rest in peace.

Adair or Alistair...good to blame?

 If Artificial Intelligence(AI) is blamed, it always is a matter of how the AI Driver is programmed.

Every little thing matters, or else it would not be a train sim I would be involved with.

If AI could be programed to take every little thing into consideration, you would see AI driven, Prototype Railroads...

You can't run a railroad, without trained personnel.

As an addition to Euphod's post:-

If you have TC3, then take a moment to view the credits.

There's a dedication/memorial to Alistair in them - a very thoughtful addition by the team.

It's almost been Year now...:(

He last left #Trainz chat 31/08/07, though it was probably his father checking his computer over he was only on for about... 10 seconds.

Cheers,
Mike

I know there must have been a very good reason for it but I found it quite "shocking" to not find Alastair in the TC3 version anymore, especially considering this version is centred around British rail.

Personally I find it the greatest honour anybody could give him by having his "alter-ego" permanently on the roster. It was fortunately not very difficult to transfer the driver from 2007 to TC3.

Alistair's not in the TC3 version?! I wonder why...

R.I.P Alistair, even though I wasn't on the forums when he was still alive. :( :'(

I assume because he couldn't give permission for it any longer. I wonder though Whether Auran contacted his next of kin and offer a permanent residence within the game.

The reason was that he himself asked to be removed from the driver list as he has fed up of getting the blame every time the AI screwed up.
