AI driver issues...

As seen in another old tread I made. I have a problem with Trainz 2010 crashing when there are too many AI trains driving with the headlights turn on or when I turn my train headlights on.

It's not an issue of frame rate. The game runs smooth under direct X mode with an FPS of about 60+. But runs a bit more laggy under OpenGL mode with FPS running up and down between 26 - 54. Both with everything on maxium with a res of 1600 x 900.

Even so, when the headlights are turned on for AI trains that are driving or just moving. The game crashes without warning. Setting the video settings from a mix to lowest to med high doesn't change anything. Lowing the res doesn't help either.

I have updated my video card drivers and direct X. I have re-installed trainz 2010 and patched it to the latest patch (Build 44088). The problem may have been solved as I played on the route "ECML Kings cross - york" and did the sesson (I forgot which one it was) and it had many AI trains running. The same ran without crash under openGL mode. Of course there was some lag dude to the large station you start in. I played it almost half way thru and no crash.

Somehow I suspect that the problems could be from some content I got from the DS. But how could that be? And how could I find this out?

Any ideas?

Also is there a way to add a rule to have all trains headlights turned off at all times? I could use this as a test to see if the lights truly are the problem.

If that is in DirectX mode, I'm well aware of a crashing issue (I have the same problem in TS2009) - usually the error is related to unable to read block.

There is probably a rule on the DLS for turning headlights off, but I cannot remember exactly which.

direct X Mode crashes no mater what I do. But OpenGL works fine. However Direct X mode is much faster as it laggs uncontrolablely in some spots where theres alot of stuff one the screen. But oh well. I'll just have to deal with it.

Bump

Back on this. This issue is not fixed and it's getting really annyoing as openGL mode is so laggy. Direct X mode still crashes without warning. I could use some help here...

Well I cannot offer you any solutions, but would suggest that you post this also in the TS2010 area. You have nothing to lose!

Good luck. Colin.
