AI cornering speed

Is there a rule that slows the AI automatically on a curve? I know that In 2009 and 2010 there is an increased friction on corners...so there must be a way to make the AI automatically slow down when they approach a curve in the track. I really don't want to have to place individual invisible speed boards on every curve!

Thanks

Hi Jayturf

Speed boards are the best way of slowing trains for curves. However there is a curve drag built into the AI you have to have your engine spec balanced properly to see it but it is there. Actually at the moment its giving me terrible greif, I have a real heavy modern day coal train on a long 2% grade with 2 90deg turns at the top of the grade, it just does not like those curves, bad track design on my part.

if they can program drag on corners they could also program the the ai to be selectively cautious on the corners I would have to say

You should do what they do in real life and reduce the grade on the corners. I have done that on my entire route and have less issues with cornering.

It is really cool when you adjust a loco to the actual specs of the locos that operated on your line. I have done this and with using the haulage capacity charts from my line I can calculate exactly the tonnage I can haul on specific sections of the line. It's really cool when it actually works out in game too.
