Agatha's Country I - New route

Have just uploaded (I hope), the first phase of my new layout based upon the geography and placenames used by Agatha Christie in her Miss Marple (and some Poirot books). The geography/topography is reasonably accurate although Miss Christie is not always consistant with placenames. The geography used may be familiar to some UK based trainzers.

The route has been over two years in the building so far!
Can I thank the several people who have been forthcoming with help and advice - including amongst many others Magandy, jankvis, shoves, kester.

I have incorporated a puzzle for you - Can you find Poirot and identify the story from the scene?

A simple session will follow in the next day or so to help explore the layout.

Apologies if this is not the correct part of the forum in which to announce releases, but this is the only section to which I have been able to gain access.

Also a basic 'sit-back-and-watch' session as three passenger trains hauled by regular locos on the route.

hi Keith

Glad to see that you decided to up load the route it is stunning work and worthy of publication

ttfn (from a beta tester:D)

I received the 'e' from Auran this a.m. (Tuesday) to say that the files had been approved - I think that they must have had a few tinnies in Brisbane over the weekend and not been working Monday or more probably I mucked up jumping through one of the up-load hoops.

Anyway I hope you have plenty of Broadband as the file is quite big ...:o

Thanks for the update.

Thanks for the information - being a "Pommie from way back" and a Agatha Christie fan and having plenty of broadband available I will be downloading later today.
I will "pass judgment" in due course - it sounds that I will be happy with the result.

Problem with Session

I have d/l the route and it looks fantastic. However I am having problems with d/l the Session.
Each time I try I get the dreaded "moo" from CMP which signifies, I believe, that I already have it installed. This is not so as it shows up with the DS icon.
I have tried using the DLH without success.
CMP strikes again:mad:

Ess1,

I found that I had to "Commit" a lot of the downloaded items - if it's open for editing it won't re-download, but won't appear in the scenarion/session listing.

Route looks excellent - just takes a long time to load on my PC.....

Thanks for the comments chaps.

It takes a while to load on mine too! I am having doubts about completeing the project. My machine is going to need memory upgrade at the very least unless NASA have got a spare mainframe that they are not using at the moment.
I am just finishing some tweaks to the layout as it stands at the moment, in response to feedback from other folk.

Ess1 this sounds like the 'Open for edit/commitment' thingy - does the icon with the tool kit show in the window?

I don't know if they will make a significant difference but feel free to delete the large red push-pins that I used to mark grid references.

HI - I'm running 2006, build 3092.

Using the CMP, I downloaded the route and the tour all at once. My CMP is set for automatic commit. On DLS, it did take a long time - I went and did other things. Maybe half the time was installing. When I came back, there were no messages, but both the route and the tour showed the gold puzzle piece with ? for missing dependencies.

I opened the dependency list in CMP, main view, and found that there were a lot of faulty dependencies as well as those that were missing. I think CMP told me there were 168 broken dependencies in the layout, as well as a bunch of them that are flat out missing.

I opened the Tour in Driver, anyway. A lot of scenery items were among the missing or faulty, when I looked in CMP, so I'm sure much was missing from the opening view at the engine house. But the engine was there, and it ran over to the first trackmark, where it was supposed to move on and couple to a consist. The big red exclamation mark came up beside the driver's head in his icon, and there was no consist in sight anywhere, so I suppose those cars are among the missing.

Anybody have thoughts on whether my CMP is not working right or whether there is something wrong with the upload(s)? Suggestions on what to do to recover and make this route and session operate?

A side question: I have not downloaded a big asset like one of these before - Does CMP search through 3rd party sites and download/install free content from them? It appeared as though the download helper was doing that.

Tried again this morning and d/l began ok! Strange beast this CMP:confused:

When I uploaded, there were no missing/faulty dependencies on the route.
All of the assets are available from the DLS - a point of principle as far as I am concerned - However on going to the session this morning it is now showing a faulty dependency

SR 12T Van V02 - this can be deleted from the session.
I have had a look and the missing 'bits' are not on the DLS.

I'm still having trouble and will probably abandon this route for awhile, but will let you know what has been happening up to now. Looks like a DLS problem to me.

Yesterday, when I booted the CMP, the two Agatha's Country assets were still in the main view window. As soon as CMP went through its checks, it automatically copied the tours asset into the download helper and began searching for dependencies. It found a bunch, and I told it to start - downloaded most, but the download helper window had 13 marked as in unknown locations (why did CMP think it had found them??). Ten of them were all associated with the same contributor - user ID #116296. The others were:

Kuid2:39730:61000:2
terrier_iow_long_bunker_engine
Terrior IOW Long Bunker BR Interior

Then I listed the dependencies, and got:

1 broken
1 broken dependencies
1 unknown
3 missing dependencies
0 on DLS

The unknown is the 39730:61000 number given above.
The 3 that are missing dependencies are City of Truro, Agatha's Country I, and SR-0-4-4T M7 Class
The one broken is SR01
The asset with broken dependencies is 0 City of Truro Tender

Then I cleared the tour and put Agatha's Country I in the download helper. It searched and found some more assets for it. But when I tried to start the download, a red bar appeared that said that Kuid2:116296:16071:127 was not on the DLS, and that had it stopped cold. Could not download anything else.

The 16071 was one of those listed as unknown when downloading the tour, but it did not interfere with the rest of the downloads - however, it was the last one listed.

Later, partly to check the CMP and parly because I wanted it, I downloaded and installed another large route, in terms of number of boards, but not with as many dependencies (fairly simple scenery and trackage, towns, and so on) as your layout. It downloaded and automatically installed with no problems. Sessions for it run just fine.

Hi dick,

I some times wonder about CMP I have had similar problems in the past with cmp all of the above are or should be available on the dls I find that doing a manual serch on the dls is somtimes the only way. not sure why Kuid2:116296:16071:127 is numbered as such as the 127 is spurus if you take it off it come as a single decker albion bus but If memory serves me correctly there was a 127 update for one of skipper1945's engines?

Hope this is of help I will try down loading the sessions as I already have the map (beta).

sorry but why would you have missing dependancies when you built the map? as for the faulty ones had you fixed the content sometime in the past, the fixed content would not be downloaded by everyone else.

cheers

Hello tkeithmat, can I ask if you have used SP1 on this TRS2006 layout please, before I download the 13.5 mb size route sitting on the DLS.

Thank you. ex-railwayman.

When a route is uploaded and not all the dependencies are available on the DLS Auran sends out an email request to the creator to make them available on the DLS. There are a number of ways that this can be done, one way the dependancy will download but will not be visible on the DLS.

Typically about ten days after uploading most assets needed make their way to the DLS.

TRS2006 often shows problems with an item but it seems to work just fine. If you note the problem and email the creator they are able to send a revision to the DLS but some prefer not to update their items since updating and correcting problems sends the DLS download count to zero. I think Tafweb once did a series of corrections and noted he'd lost more than 1,000,000 off his download count.

When you create a layout there are ways to verify that all the content used is on the DLS.

Only the person who created the item is allowed to correct it. A layout uses many items from different creators. There have been attempts in the past to find a way to correct faulty DLS content but none have been successful so far.

hi john, i know about the problems you mention, i was just a little confused by the original post seemed to be saying that all was well when uploaded, just pointing out that the dependancies would be on his PC, and if hes fixed the errors then they wouldnt show up either

cheers
