After deleting missing assets in Surveyor

I am left with a few 'dashed' white lines [Splines] and cannot seem to get rid of them. Guidance required to eliminate these from the route. Any suggestions?

In some cases, the white spline lines could be an obsolete fence or a grass spline and it converts to track. Try using the delete track tool.

Does the list of dependencies for the route show any 'missing or unknown', which may give you a clue.

If so, go back into TS12 content manager and see if there is an original route. If so download and check how it displays. You may be lucky enough to spot the offending asset and identify it.

If it displays and functions in TS12, then it is a simple matter to do a bulk-replacement of that asset with another one (one that works in TANE), save it, then create a cdp file to import into TANE. Make sure you delete or rename your faulty file.

Cheers,
Roy

Yes Roy, was obsolete scenery items, tho' I wasn't sure which. Problem solved using part of your suggestion. I added a spline point then deleted that same spline point in track mode which then allowed total deletion. Bit odd and a strange way to get rid of them. Gradually introducing speed trees to entire route and have deleted/disabled many scenery items that were either payware or third party which has crept into my db. I think the problem lay there. All good now.

Cheers,
Val.

If you know what asset is that they replace, you can replace the dashed lines. Here's a procedure I copied from a post made ages ago.

The following information comes via the lead developer for N3V Games. I had to use this last night and I know it works.

The dashed white lines isn't "a missing asset" - it's the asset that Trainz turns to when it can't find the asset it is supposed to draw there. These white lines are, in themselves, an asset. You can find this asset in CM. It's called "Missing spline", and it's by Rob. Open it for edit. Change the KUID from <kuid:523:1124> to <kuid2:523:1124:1>, and remove the whole privileges container (containing the line "permit-listing 0") Then install that asset as if it were a new asset - e.g. drag the folder from windows explorer back onto the CM interface. Once it's installed, revert the original one (you can't commit changes to it as it's a built-in asset). Result: The dashed white lines now show up in the menu, and can be selected just like any other track spline. You could lay some down if you wanted. More to the point, you can now use the 'replace items' tool to change them to any track spline you have installed...

I will add this. When you install the folder, use the install content option. This will save so much time. Also don't panic when the creator is shown as AURAN. I hope this helps some one.

Notes:

<kuid2:523:1124:1> ==== Update from <kuid2:523:1124:2> to <kuid2:523:1124:3> for T:ANE. All other procedures apply.

and you also need to change .texture file using PEV's Images2TGA.

Thanks John, I will certainly bear that in mind should this occur in the future. It appears the update to SP3 has caused a few challenges that did not appear in SP2 but again, as said below, I have rendered many assets in my Db to disable or delete in an attempt to clean up unwanted stuff that creeps into route creation. Keeping up to date is fairly important if you wish to create a route that will interest others that want to download.

Many thanks to both you and Roy for the input.
Cheers,
Val.
