adelaide flexity

according to the config, it says nothing about copyright.

Still, you must treat the object as if it has a copyright restriction on it. You must not redistribute the object, unless you have it in writing that you are allowed to redistribute the object. If you don't you are opening yourself up to legal action which can include a civil case in the court of law. The implications of that can be severe.

Bearing in mind that others have re-skinned this tram, it is likely that you would be given permission if you can get in touch with the author. I would suggest that you brush up on your German (or ask someone who speaks it) and ask on the TrainzDepot forum (or anywhere else the author is active).

Paul

p.s. I've just checked, and he is active on TrainzDepot. His profile page is here http://www.trainzdepot.net/profile.php?lookup=1244 (there is a PM option). Note you will have to be logged in to see this. I hope he gives permission.

Just use Google Translate to type in English and translate to German. All you have to do then is copy/ paste to the PM option.
Where are the other versions avaliable from?

How likely to you think this is?

That's not the point. This community exists on a basis of mutual respect. A fundamental part of that is to respect the wishes of content creators regarding their creations.

Although the likelihood of being sued or dragged through the courts over something like this is slight, getting thrown out of the forums / DLS etc could happen. More to the point, some creators have simply shut up shop when others have not abided by licence conditions.

If that is not the point why say it? It is laughable to use this type of scare-tactics when it is most likely never to be enforced. If you desire that the users respect the wishes of the creators you should not come up with a bull**** story of legal action in a court of law. It makes the rebel come out in some people and make them call your bluff. I have no respect when threatened by some teenage kid on the internet.

So you are saying, once my object goes on the DLS for free, it means you can do whatever you like to it?

Who owns the intellectual property in law?
What can the person say about IPR?
What implications are there?

Have you ever bothered looking at the Copyright, Designs and Patents act (UK)?
http://www.uktrainsim.com/index2.php?form_reader=copyright

go and have a read, its the same as anything on the net, in this form, etc. As long as I can prove I have created, I can take anyone to court over my work if they have done something I disapprove of them doing.
Here is a thread that discusses some of it. http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=44894&highlight=Intellectual+Property+Rights

Lance Jago/Alan Yeomans have produced a sticky about it before and Auran are able to clarify the situation if you need to contact Helpdesk.

Not everyone checks their PMs every day - have patience. Did you send him some screenshots so he can see the quality of your re-skin?
