Add/remove FRED or EOT device??

Is there a simple way to add or remove a FRED or other EOT device during an operating session? If so, I haven't found it. I save the session, edit to add/remove FRED, save again and then resume. Very disruptive to the flow of operations.
I would like to have something like the "de-couple" button/rule/command to make this a simple task.
If anyone has found a simple way, I would appreciate your info.
Thanks!!

FRED appears as a Driver in my set up and also shows as Faulty in both 2010 and TS12.
Just located him in CM under ALL and deleted him back to Australia.

I don't know which FRED y'all are talking about, but I use the one(s) on the DLS by BNSF50. There's a BNSF, CSX, NS, UP, and Flag Only type available. They all work great in TS12.

He might have been referring to Fred the driver.

I add on my FREDs during operating sessions by creating a single-car consist which contains a FRED. I place it on the tracks using Quick Drive (add the rule to your session if it doesn't exist already). I then ensure it's facing the proper direction, and then back my track to couple to it. It's not prototypical, but at least I get a FRED on the end. In some cases it's necessary to turn it around when placing it, but that's easily done in the Quick Drive when placing the FRED.

Now if there was a way to remove active consists...

It will couple to the FRED ... I have seen this on real trains, and a FRED was coupled up, and was severely damaged, squashed between couplers, but was still flashing.

Are you actually playing a session? If you created the session yourself and didn't turn the quick-drive editor off, then a work around for this would be to create a consist of a single FRED or other EOT device. Then when you decouple, pull your train slightly further forward than usual, go into the quick-drive area, then go down to add a consists to the route, select the FRED or EOT consist and place it in session. You don't even have to leave the session to do it.
:)

Thanks for the suggestions!

Cascaderailroad: Love the animation! Had something much more simple in mind, but.....maybe someday!

Regards to all.

How do you couple on the end of the train with Fred still on the end?

John

yeah since they attach to the side of the coupler and not the coupling face or knuckle this is very unlikely. you can still couple with one on.

I have two saved consists, which I am adding with quickdrive to the session:

Alfred, the FRED-Handler, without FRED (Alfred,<kuid2:86627:1210:2>), he will remove the FRED from a consist and then will be deleted with the rule Delete Train,<kuid2:116387:15:2>
Alfred, the FRED-Handler, with FRED (Alfred,<kuid2:86627:1210:2>), he will carry a FRED (only with the power of its will :hehe:) and put it to a consist and then will be deleted with the rule Delete Train,<kuid2:116387:15:2>

Where is FRED-Handler, I search the DLS.

Thanks, John

Alfred is a locomotive, https://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS_viewasset.php?AssetID=161271. I am calling a consist, I made with Alfred as the only rollingstock, "Alfred, the FRED-Handler, without FRED", and an other consist with Alfred and a FRED as the two pieces of rolling stock, "Alfred, the FRED-Handler, with FRED". These two consists are not on the DLS. I admit, it is funny to see Alfred carrying the FRED some meters in front of him. The attachement-point of the coupler on one side of the FRED is as far away, that you will notice the gap if you are coupling a car to a car with FRED
