Absolutely undeletable KUID

I made the mistake of adding "waterfall mist" to my route and after placing it, I am totally unable to do ANYTHING with it. I can't select it, I can't name it, I can't raise/lower it, and I can't rotate it. It just sits there mocking me.

The item is KUID3:89219:100005:1 by ATSFRR3000. Normally, Chris's items are very nice to have, but I simply cannot do anything with this one.

Given that the "Delete Missing Items" is broken in TS2012SP1HF3, I can't simply delete the item from the database and use that option. So, anyone have any other ideas for deleting this object?

Manually go into the routes config file and remove it that way?

That's what we had to do back in TRS06.

Delete missing items works fine in HF3 here, but only if you unlock both the route and the session.

Regarding the mist, it appears to be unmovable and undeletable, even though I can see the red box, very odd. Only thing that gets rid of it seems to be undo.

Tried replace assets? not forgetting to unlock everything first? and deleting the replacement? Just tried that here and it worked.

Don't forget though that TS12 SP1 usually locks the route layer when you load into Surveyor...

P.S. How did you manage to get a KUID3? I didn't think these existed.

It was a typo, Shane.

Content replacement did the trick. I sure would like to know under what conditions an object will go completely inert after placement though. Very strange behavior.

I've seen a similar thing involving a tunnel spline, which N3V are due to be diagnosing for me (as they have a copy of my route/session for that purpose via the TrainzDev address).

Dunno. It just happened and nobody seems to know how to fix it. If the content is truly missing, as opposed to undeleteable as mine was, then you're out of luck because you can't delete missing assets until they get it fixed.

Delete missing assets works for me but as I said only if I unlock the route layer first and only if I'm working in a session not the route layer, I merge session to route before saving. I'm sure these problems are being caused by this default layer locking, same applies with replace assets, doesn't do anything unless you unlock first. Can't save even with route unlocked unless you save as and overwrite. Case of making what worked well over complicated and breaking it?

I have never seen an instance of a layer being locked by default. In any case, I always check before I save as I also do my editing in session, not the route.

It's a known thing in TS12 SP1. I even made a thread about it at the time of SP1's release. It's caused by the Lock Entire Route feature.

Try edit session and try to move anything on the route layer, you get a popup giving the option to either clone or unlock the route layer. The popup doesn't appear on delete assets or replace assets when maybe it should?
