A Question For The Rivet Counters

Blake, here's what I'd do if I were you. I'd send a letter, or make a phone call, to Mr. White, the GM of the railroad, and explain your interest in the Trainz, and his railroad, and in particular the locomotives, and see if you can set up an appointment to gain access to one for the purpose of making measurements, photographs, and recordings. You might have to travel to Springfield or Peoria to do it, but this is the best way to get the information you seek.

It may be that Mr. White will not be co-operative, but the worst thing that can happen is that he'll say "no", in which case you're in exactly the same situation you are not. But, if he says "yes", ...

I have emailed Mr. White before about close up pictures of the SD20. The road foreman of the TZPR sent me some. But since the RS1325 is their main roadswitcher, it might be hard to set up an appointment. Plus he might also not take me seriously since I am only 13...

It's true that he may not take you seriously. I doubt it, though, since he forwarded your earlier request to the TZPR RFE, and I don't think he would have done that if he were of a mindset to not take you seriously. But then again, you won't really know until you ask. That the RS1325 is their main road switcher might place constraints on what you are able to do, for example, it might mean that you have to be at the shops at an early hour (6:30 or 7:00 AM), and limit the amount of time you have to get your pictures and other reference material (perhaps you'd only have perhaps 15 minutes), and of course there would be the hassle of getting to Springfield or Peoria (the only industrial track I see in Petersburg seems lightly used, if it's in service at all, so it's unlikely a locomotive is going to spend much time in Petersburg.). Still, you won't know for certain until you ask. And the very worst that can happen is he will say "no" and use words that your parents don't know you know yet. You've more to gain than lose, on this one, it seems to me.

I am going to call this afternoon and set up an appointment to view the RS1325 and their less used SD18. Also, there are no industry tracks in Petersburg. The only thing that spur is used for (from recent memory) is to park the MOW equipment.
