A New Separate Trainz Video area in the Forum

I would like to suggest that the Forum have a separate area set aside for Trainz Videos. As has been suggested in a recent post- it could have subcategories, such as 'Tutorials', 'Freeware Showcases', 'Payware Showcases', 'Asset Showcases', 'Route Sections in Progress' etc....

More and more, forum members are posting/embedding video codes in various threads, causing that forum thread to load extremely slowly. Instead, a forum member could just post a LINK for the video he/she has embedded in the new Trainz Video Forum area. We've all done searches on You Tube for Trainz videos, with varying amounts of success in what we were interested in viewing. Combining this Forum with its members videos would be both helpful and also entertaining for us all.

I realize that the Screenshot area in the Forum already has a section for Trainz videos, but I believe many more Forum members would FIND as well as view and post videos, if there were a separate Trainz Video Forum area, with appropriate and easy to choose subcategories.

I have put in a ticket with the same request/suggestion to the Help desk.

Yes, there's already a couple "Trainz Videos" threads and they are quite fragmented. Most important would be to firstly sort out the "Trainz videos" from "videos of trains", I think.

I agree with the problem of threads with Trainz videos as opposed to a separate Forum area with the same.
I hadn't thought of the need to sort out Trainz videos from videos of trains- good idea.

I had also added this request/suggestion to the help desk and got a prompt reply from Zec. He forwarded it to the team there and noted I should put it also here in the Suggestion Boxcar area of the forum. He said it would help "to gauge the amount of support that a request has. It also allows other users to make comment on it, which may give further options/ideas to the request that may be able to be looked at".

So hopefully more forum members will read and comment on this idea in this thread. (And please pass along the thread link to anyone you think has an interest in the idea or thoughts on it).

Can anyone tell me if it is 'proper' to also put this thread into the General Trainz area of the forum, and/or the Screenshots/video area of the forum?

I just don't think we'll get enough viewers of this thread, here in Suggestion Boxcar, to get the responses and suggestions N3V wants & needs- to allow us to continue with the idea.

@Nicky - How about a weekly Trainz video contest similar to the weekly (alleged) screenshot contest?

I have looked into it before, but from seniors' experience the participation is usually absymal. A weekly video contest would be lucky to garner more than one entry. All Rebecca is asking for are tidy threads for "videos of Trainz" and "videos of trains" because there are many good gems buried inside non-video threads.

Even though this may be true ... So would a brand new Trainz Video thread, very soon would become lengthy and fragmented after time goes by, and with over 1324 pages, slogging through the long thread would be equally as fragmented as the present "Trainz Videos" thread is now.

Yeah, but this isn't a thread but instead a full forum just like the screenshots forum under creations where all the videos can be placed neatly in one place.

MODERATOR AJ- I'd much appreciate it, if we could put this thread into the General Trainz area of the forum and possibly get some more feedback on the idea.

Nicky- I AM actually asking for a separate full forum Trainz Video area, not just a thread for all the reasons stated above.... threads get long-winded and fragmented and quickly buried.

John- Thanks for understanding what I'm requesting here..... all the videos can be "in one neat place" and never buried, even the oldest videos could be easily viewed.

Deneban- While I'm sure not opposed to the idea of a video weekly contest- I'd rather get a separate Trainz Video Forum area going first. Then if there is interest, it could spawn a weekly contest but located THERE (just like the screenshot weekly contest is in the Competitions/Screenshot area of the Forum).

Enzo1- check back again with this thread (hopefully posted soon in the General Trainz area), maybe you can be the first video poster in the new Separate Video Trainz Forum area!

Moderator AJ- Thanks a lot for putting this post here in General Trainz.

Helian 43- True- I view a lot, yet don't often post. The good folks in this forum ask and answer most of my questions before I need to post (thank-you). And, I'm still lacking in the right skills to help with answering most forum questions.
So I figure I'll go with an entertaining and a fun aspect of Trainz that I myself love to watch (and learn from)- Trainz videos. (I've learned a lot from the tutorials on You Tube- and would sure like to easily find and view them in a Trainz Video forum area here).

Please Trainzers- let the forum know if there is interest for this idea and post a quick reply here. The Auran/N3V powers that be, won't let it happen unless we get a fair amount of interest in this thread. If it comes to pass, we'll also need some good suggestions for making such a Trainz Video Forum area easy, helpful and entertaining to use.
