A Little Idea for the Next JR Route

I think the OP's original idea was to see what each team member could produce on a smallish module, They all i'm sure have way too many projects as it is let alone for each of them to make any of the routes suggested in this thread it just wouldn't get done. I like the OP's idea and i think with time it could be accomplished and released even as Payware i'd certainly buy it ( As long as it worked in TS12 left behind the first version ).
Cheers Mick.

You're close. Each member of JointedRail would chose one of oknosten's M120 modules and just have creative freedom with it. There's no unifying 'theme' to tie all the modules together. There's no requirement for any industries and those industries don't have to be interactive. It's just "Pick a module, do what you want to do with it." I think that this would allow each member of JR to show their tastes, how they interpret what a 'Model Railroadz' is, etc.. Once all the modules are completed, they would then be merged together into one route and be released.

This is a really great idea, and it's getting plenty of attention in house. Not sure what will happen with it, but I would like to make one! Mick is right however, we all are pretty busy with just maintaining content for JR. BUT I think this deserves at least a shot!

Thanks

Mike

If I could make a suggestion, it'd be interesting to see one of JR members, doesn't matter who, make a Module in a Time Speed Vid. All it would take is running Fraps while you're at it. Just one. It'd be quite a PR piece I would think. Level of detail would probably be lower for such a project, but thats ok. I've only seen a few vids where people have done such, but they're one of the few things that really highlight this game as being worth peoples time in a bright, vivid, concise manner.

Edited to add:
Think of all the JR Pieces you could show people in such a vid as well, and ways they could use them?

But, whatever's clever, I'm curious to see the end result of what ya'll put out too.

In another twist, if JR is looking for "new blood" to recruit, they could hold a route designing contest in a similar manner - they provide the base board size and a set of rules, then let people create and submit their mini routes. Perhaps a few of them could be released as freeware to the public, with the winner winning some unsaid prize. But the main objective would be to utilize JR assets in building the route, and seeing who's got talent (to help them build stuff for the new sim).

I think this is a cool idea, but it would be confusing to watch in practice. As I'm sure you know, route building is a constant game of working and then changing camera position, which would be made even more extreme at a faster speed. It would be nice if it were possible to set up a static camera somewhere through which Fraps could record that way there was a consistent view of the route as things changed, and then that would produce a very awesome result. Too bad we don't have multiplayer surveyor...

....yeah, and it would be cool if that camera thing would also automatically add the Benny Hill Theme to the video.
:)
