A journey from Berchtesgaden Hbf to Freilassing.

@JCitron - Thanks for sharing the video 🍻

My favorite railway type in the EU > Alps !

I was asking my Dad (who is 100% German) about pronouncing the first half of "Berchtesgaden", and he then related that he was visiting there in the late 50's with a co-worker.
He was 21 at the time. They stopped at the Berghof site (Hitler's mountain home) which was in ruins, and other local sites.

Wow! That's interesting. I like how older people remember things about places when asked questions. I showed my father some cab rides on the NYC "L" and he discussed every stop he used to take the subway from. :-)

On my mom's side, her mother's father was German and first generation American. His parents came from Hamburg and Frankfurt. Her grandmother was related to Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin.

The countryside in the video reminds me of western New England or eastern Pennsylvania.

Again, thank you for sharing this video John. I did this same journey through to Frielassing and on to Salzburg way back in 1997 while on holiday in that region. There are/were a number of fabulous lines that radiated south from Munich down to the Austrian and Swiss borders. Brings back many happy memories.
John
