A few Questions

Hello Trainz fourm I need a little help under standing a few things. 1. in real life On say a factory siding Does a mainline train stop and back up on to the siding to get the cars or does a switcher bring cars back to the rail yard. or???

Many factors would determine the answer to that question. If the mainline is active and is only 1 or 2 tracks, having the mainline train pick up the cars might foul up traffic for too long. If the mainline is not very active, then this situation may certainly occur. In my area (CSX Trenton Line), the mainline is fairly active and there is a switching yard nearby, so a "local" train made up of 2 light locos in a push-pull configuration makes a once-a-day run to the industries in the area and takes/brings cars from/to the switching yard for pick up there. Another factor may be that the industry track is not rated for heavy locomotives, so it may be limited to only single 4-axle engines or switchers.

The way I look at it, anything goes. Whatever you think is neat or have space to do, somewhere in the world there is a real-life situation to match it! :)

CSX picks up cars on a full train, by cutting the consist, or cutting a loco free for pick ups at a major manufacturer, such as dropping off/picking up cylindrical hoppers, and auto racks. Usually there is a passing siding for through trains to go around the switching move.
