Hi there everyone I would like to build the OTAGO CENTRAL RAILWAY but I have no idea where to start and what tools I well need.
I am running TRS 2010 my computer is more than a match for this project I have SirGibbys Murchison 2 so there is alot of assetts onthere I can use and there is a DEM program about but I don't know where or how to use it
so any help and advise you can give me would be great.
NZRail is dying in NZ so all I am trying to do is try and keep it alive and maybe throw some more NZ routes onto the download station.
Thank you all

Dunedin would be a good place to start!!!:hehe: I think I even saw the station building on the DLS a while ago.

I'd suggest you use Google Earth and streetview at least to get some reasonably accurate measurements, heights, etc. That is unless you get the hang of the world of DEM's. A trip on the TGR will do you the world of good as well, to get a feel of the area. When I went on it, I spent most of the time on the back balcony filming the line in case I ever want to build it myself (it was OK, I didn't look too stupid, everyone else was doing the same). Youtube can do a similar job.

The NZRLS archives would be well and truly worth a visit. You can contact them online as well. If you're really keen, there are books available, such as Over the Garden Wall, that have good information.

Re. the NZ trainz scene dying - NEVER! Fender is almost singlehandedly keeping the scene alive with his top shelf work. Bill69, Fender & myself seem to keep the NZ Pics thread moving along. I've been working on some horn and engine sounds that I might upload when (if) Auran get their act together, Fender has been working hard, it's still there. But I'm sure everybody would agree, the more the merrier.:)
