But doesn't it look odd on curves ?
You'd need a heck of a lot of baseboards for a curve that didn't show an overhang with a wheelbase that long.
 
All articulated locos look odd on curves, lol. Look at the Uintah 2-6-6-2T on one its 66 degree curves sometime. Hint - - - a 66 degree curve is sharper then 18 inch radius in HO scale.

As you can in the screenshot earlier in this thread the huge boy has all three driver sets rigidly connected together. In reality its a 4-24-4. If it had been setup differently (as I mentioned above) the overhang at the front and rear and its ability to negotiate curves would be no different then a 4-8-8-4.
