3dMax Fonts issue

Since 2001
Hi All --

Anyone knows how to get 3d Max 2012 version font / interface bigger?

Looking for something in the program's settings?

Not windows settings, just to be clear!

Thanks for any feedback!

Ish

Hi Ish,

Not sure why you want larger fonts unless you are like me and wear trifocals to see with. I found the following by typing the word Fonts in the search box at the top of the program interface. It takes you to their web site. Hope this is what you were looking for.

Jack

Large Fonts and 3ds Max
3ds Max is set up to use small Fonts, which are the default for Windows. If you use large Fonts, you might see some anomalies in the 3ds Max interface:

  • Controls and labels in dialogs and rollouts might be cut off or overlap other fields.
  • Not all labels appear in the large Font.
  • Some text-entry fields might not allow you to type in them.
To remedy these problems, set your system Font back to smaller Fonts.

Hello JJ, my good friend --
You know, I'm surprise to see a post of yours' ... Glad to see you back in the forum!

About 3dmax ...

For the life of me, I don't understand why the programmers of 3d max do not have a feature, liking enlarging the font --- I wear glasses, and I have a huge PC monitor, and yet 3dmax font difficult to see ... And I can't enlarge windows font, because then icon and everything way to big, etc :(

Well, thanks your for feedback on this topic, JJ ... :)

Take care of yourself, and be safe

Ish,

The issue is most programmers today are young kids who can see ant footprints without problems. They don't take into consideration display scaling and older folks who may wear glasses and assume everyone has the same eyesight fidelity they have.

This isn't just an issue with 3ds Max and can be found with many devices and programs.

Having a large screen usually means a much higher resolution and thus tiny text, better of with something like a 17 inch at 1440 x 990 or for a large monitor, reduce the resolution.

Hi John,

Quite said .... I'm part of that generation that did not grew up with pc's, but then when they became affordable because a fan, especially online gaming in the early days ... these programmers I think forgot about that early pc generation, and like you said, John, youngsters ...

Hi Malc,

Resolution high, but yet all programs are large enough and clear enough to see ... I know, 3dmax is different in this case, since it uses windows interfere for its' interfere to be manipulated ....

Take care guys

I don't have 3D Max, but would the Windows built-in Magnifier work 'in-program' for Ish?
Accessibility options like Magnifier can be invoked just in time to view tiny text and then turned off as desired.
In browsers, of course, simply hitting the CTRL+ Plus (+) Key will magnify the display, whilst CTRL+ minus (-) key will reduce the apparent size.
In other programs, try using the Windows key + Plus key and move your mouse cursor to the spot you want to magnify. Hit the Windows + Plus key again to increase the magnification, then Windows + minus key to revert or Windows + Esc to exit the magnifier.
More details and many other options here:

Hello there, sir ...

You know, I gave it a try ... it's not bad --- it's something one must get use to it!

I might have to experiment with it to see if it's a valuable tool to use!

Thanks for the suggestion, sir!!!

Do you know what is quite remarkable?
This Windows key + Plus (+) key utility ALSO works in T:ANE!! Possibly this could be helpful for some partially-sighted individuals in Content Manager, especially for those dim, greyed-out text lines.
Just tried it on one of my sessions. (Cannot see a good reason for doing so, however, except for hard-to-read menu items, etc., as the default in-game zoom keys work pretty well for most use-cases).
It worked, after a brief, microsecond delay. Don't forget to exit via the Windows + Esc key combo afterwards, otherwise there might be unintended display glitches.
