30 years

In 30 years ALL laptops (asside from very low end models) will have a 4Ghz processor, 10Gb Ram, 2Tb HD, a 4Gb dedicated graphics card ... and probably will be like a IPad or other handheld device.

And... We'll still suffer from stutters because the route builders will be putting everything they can download on each baseboard!

The problem with US politics is.....
One of the biggest problems is that elections are just popularity contests where competence and wisdom are barely considered. And the short time between elections means no one can afford any long term vision.

Back On Topic, with more powerful hardware, I would expect the simulators to go with even greater accuracy and detail. One problem with that is creating a super detailed route will take too much time for all but the most dedicated modelers. So expect a semi-automated Surveyor that can import and interpret photo details and generate / place appropriate objects in a map.

Cascade.... Classical.
ON the subject of pollies.
My dear (departed) friend charlie gough had the answer to pollies.
He reckoned we put all their names in a hat and draw six, then shoot them with the warning....The next six have been selected. Get to work.
