30 maps - 5 years of work and 1,000 kms more .
As I buy Trainz in the year 2007, I asked myself this question : Can i make a very large map with Trainz ? today I say : the answer is obviously yes , 3 thinks I did for those who are trying for a very large map :
- I choose a theme that does not require too much physical resources.
- I do not put grass & herbs (objects and splines) of wayside all the way .
- I do not exceed 1,500 kms long because from this distance, Trainz wades into semolina , such as you do it Bug with mountains. (at least that is what I found on my route. ) Fashion Design : How far can we go with trainz ? well, experimental fashion, this map was born in 2007, left out for 1 year . Recovery it may , the purpose is whether Trainz can take the shock by building a great map for the moment everything goes well, after merging thirty maps , no bugs on the map "yeah i like this". I must be even more than 1000 kms view I added a regional network. Here are all the baseboards in all of this project!
Another tip : in my experience , if you assembling a large amount of maps, made all that jumped to large on the map, such as HD objects , if problems arise golds of the merger map. (it churns long ) also change the textures, especially if it's high resolution textures . And finally think that by combining a large number of maps between them, it does not necessarily fall in front , there should be a gap area between two cards , adding blank baseboards , once a merger made it you have that composed the scene after the two new maps .
Long maps are interesting for lovers of long distance driving.
By experience which is a shame on trainz, you can have 20 trains on a map, it remains fluid without much vegetation, Trainz not too spleens love plants, and bushy even with a good graphics card and memory forests ,we'll see with the next version ! For now, I continue this project with the electrification of the route (very long to do) i waiting also for Trainz New Era to create a VLM route. Is just for jun.
