2019 Build 111951 is not saving some of my work.

I just got into Trainz and opened my route, went to layers and went to sessions and made three new layers. I then did some work setting track directions markers, tracks markers and set some signals. I saved the route and create new session, got out and then back in and its all gone the new layers I made are gone, so I got out and restarted the computer and then reopened Trainz and did a rebuild date base, ran fine when finished I closed Traniz and then reopened and did the same thing over again got out , got back in and my work is gone again. I'm wasting time doing this over and over so I'm just about to give it up. It seems to save everything I do in the route but not anything I try to do in sessions now does that make since? ,:'(

Some obvious questions that are not covered in your post above. When you saved your work originally, did you save both the Session and the Route? Also, when you save a Session are you giving it a distinctive name (not "default")? When you reloaded your work did you load the Session AND Route or just the Route?

Anything you place in a Session layer will only be saved (and reloaded) in a Session. If you just load the Route then that work will not be loaded.

Everything works as expected here when using "Create New Session" from the sessions menu. The way I read your post, is that you are editing the session layers within "Edit Route", saving the route, but perhaps not also saving a uniquely named session, then choosing create session. While editing the route, if I was to make changes to the session layer, I always "save as" which appears to make settings and trackmarks stick.

In the layers tab, all layers in the top section will save to the route. All layers in the bottom section will save to the session. You need to select edit session to get the saved session layers back, edit route only brings back the route section with a new session layer added.

Ok I've gone a little dumb here, I'm going to start with the second post. I though they both opened at the same time and if you have to open both then how do you open both at the same time? I'm giving it a distinctive name that's what I open is the session and see the work, but when I get out and go back to the route then the work is gone. Thanks all for the help. so are you supposed to do all the session work in the session instead of the route and doing it in sessions layer?

Oh dear, we have been over this - with others - numerous times. If you are working on a session do that by "Edit Session". Never ever "edit route" and select session layer to work on a session, or guess what, you'll loose your work. So to go back to basics, you select a route, select show sessions, and choose the session you want to work on and save that session. If you want to edit the route, close session, go back to main route menu and select the route. Do that and you won't stuff up.

Your other option is to edit your session with your changes and then merge the session layer onto the route layer.

May I recommend a Wiki Page on the subject of using Route and Session Layers at https://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/How_to_Use_Layers

To load a Route or a Session from that Route, from the main Surveyor menu, select the Route.

If you are only going to edit the Route and not a Session, then click "Edit Route".

If you are going to edit a Session that uses that particular Route, then click "View Sessions"

This will display all the Sessions that depend on your selected Route. Select the Session you want to edit.

Then click "Edit Session". This will load both the Route AND the Session.

Loading a Session will let you edit both the Route AND the Session.

Thanks guys this should get me back on the right track. I knew there was a thread on this somewhere but couldn't member or was unable to find it, so the way I see it looks like the best way to do is do every thing in the session and that way you dont have to go back and forth. Thanks again guys for helping an old man, lol.
