2010EE Installation

What is the best way to install 2010EE?

I read somewhere, but cannot find it now, to upgrade the 2009 with 2010EE. Would it be better and or can it be done to make a separate install?

When I purchased and installed Murchison2 it upgraded the 2009. Will installing Murchison2 in 2010EE mess things up?

What I would like to do is uninstall 2009 completely then install the 2010EE then install the Murchison2.

What are your thoughts?

If TS 2009 is still installed when installing TS2010, you will be prompted to install it as a stand alone or as an add-on on top of TS2009.

But you would rather prefer to uninstall TS2009, and then install TS2010 as a clean copy.

Then after you can drop and drag your TS2009 Local folder right into the CMP including all the Murchinson2 assets which are supposed to be in or you may just move it fronm TS2009 folder to TS2010 one.

In either way the CMP will update the Local content assets (which can take some times) and you will get a brand new fresh install with your older content.

I think that I will save a copy of the Local folder from Ts2009, uninstall Ts2009 and then do a clean install of Ts2010. Then I can put the Ts2009 Local folder into Ts2010, John.

John, don’t make a copy of the content folder. Uninstalling TS2009 will NOT remove the Local folder as well as the Screenshots one.

Install TS20010 and after “building” content has been updated first time you start TS2010, close it, MOVE the TS2009 Local folder to the TS2010 folder where there is Not yet any Local folder and restart TS2010. You will save a lot of time.

Thanks for that Thierry, I will consider it, though I think I would feel happier to have a backup of the local content, it would be a chore if I had to find and reinstall that lot! John.

I fully understand you’re feeling uncomfortable with that!

A workaround could be to drag and drop the 2009 Local folder into the 2010 CMP main window, then the original 2009 Local is not moved.

And of course you can make a safe copy and try one of the above.
