Hi guys.

im currently patching Trainz 2010 build 42203 to 43434 it has been sittin in one position for about an hour is this normal????? and wondering how long it has been taking people to do this patch...

Thanks
Dan

Mine took about 2 hours and could take longer depending on your computer. The blue indicator got to about 50% and stayed there for a very long time.

Do an Extended DataBase Repair after it has finished.

When you go to Content Manager, click on File in the top left corner. You will see 2 selections for Database repair, a Quick one and an Extended one.

This may take a little while too depending on how much content you have. It will check through your content/files and "organise/sort" out any problems.

I have been running this update for approximately 48 hours and it is still running.......

Actually I killed it the first time since I thought nothing written properly should take so long without warnings........silly me :D

When I startup trainz 2010 it is states Build 43434 and is updating the database.....scanning for modified assets. It ran through about 7k without any issue (very fast).....and then has been doing about 3 per hour. It is now on 7786/153527 and has been running over 48 hours actually. It is moving....but VERY, VERY, slowly.

I am in hopes that this tends to speed up after getting to a certain point (unsure what that certain point is).

Will this ever finish? This computer is less than 4 weeks old. It is a Gateway DX4840, running Windows 7 (64bit) i3CPU 540 @ 3.07 GHz with 8GB memory and a 1 TB drive.

Please help....I have a 7yr old son that is driving me crazy :D

I have absolutely no idea why it is taking so long for the Database Repair to finish, it certainly should not take that long.

My only suggestion would be to stop it and just see if 2010 works properly. Other then that contacting the HelpDesk or see if someone else here has a better idea.

Hi,

just a couple of points:-

If you cancel the update part-way through the program will not be consistent - you'll have to remove it (saving custom content) re-install and the re-patch. Ohterwise the patcher will read the version number & assume it's already been patched....

When the patcher has finished (mine took a couple of hours) - if you start Trainz, then the program will initiated the database repair by itself.
That can take a while (depends on how much you have downloaded...).

You are saving the patch before running it? It took me about 45 minutes to download the patch - if you're trying to run it from the server (i.e. "run" instead of "save") it will take longer.

Ok, my 12 year old and I ran the SP3, it took a couple of hours. Afterwards, he found out content was missing, broken links. So we ran the Repair only some of his content is still missing. NOW, MY QUESTION IS:
Can I uninstall the SP3 or do I have uninstall the entire game? And start over?
If I can uninstall the PATCH, I need to know where to find it and how to run an UNINSTALL on it, I have a bad feeling I have to reinstall the entire game? Am I feeling in the correct direction? LOL (I have a hidden anymosity toward Auran as I went through this with TS2006 when he was 6. ( HELP ME PLEASE !!!!) Other than this problem his game runs great, looks great .....go figure

.......Can I uninstall the SP3......

Afraid not.

Try running an extended database repair again (maybe twice) and leave the PC alone while you do so - it may take some time.

Best of luck.

Edit: Just saw you other post about the problem, check my reply there....
