Being a very happy TRS2006 user its sad there is no longer support for it.
So I've eventually decieded to buy 2010 but I now notice 2012 ? whats all this about ?
So which one to buy now ?
Also whatever I buy how exactly do I get my 2006 local folder onto the new edition
Thanks in advance for any replies/help
Cheers

Make CDP's of assets you want and use the import cdp/or content options in 2010 CM, dont know about 2012 yet.
Be prepared to make content suitable for 2010, its a lot more fussy than 2006.
Only transfer what you use, there will be a lot to repair.

As far as importing in 2012 is concerned it is exactly the same as 2009 and 2010. Either make cdp's or if you must have the whole lot import the local folder.

A lot of the older content has been or is in the process of being repaired for 2010 / 2012.

I find 2012 to be better than 2010 which I thought was pretty good, you will find the usual people though who disagree and come up with all sorts of reasons why you shouldn't use whatever version.

There is of course no reason why you can't continue to use your existing version alongside whatever you get for anything that won't work in a newer one.
Haven't had any problems here using old stuff that wasn't fairly easy for me to fix, I can understand though that some may not be that technically inclined and not want to mess with fixing errors.

Thanks guys, I was born. brought up and worked in a non computer era and retired early before they became common place.

I have no real PC skills or understanding, i fact I have a laptop for basic internet/email use and then a dedicated high spec desktop computer just for the trainz game. Its the only computer game I've ever played.

I say this to get over to you where I'm coming from so " fixing errors " would worry me as unless I'm given an " idiots guide " walk through I'm totally lost.
In the past I've had to reinstall my trainz so know how to transfer my very large local folder into the reinstalled game by just dragging it from my back up hard drive into the auran games folder and then waiting many many hours for it to copy over. Would this be the same procedure if I bought 2010 or 2012 ?

If not then I would not know what to do ?
What do you think ?

PS nice to hear from you again Fran, I hope you are well

TS12 contains or has download links to content for TS2010 on the DLS so if you haven't purchased either I'd go for TS12. Cheapest option for the UK is probably the download option from N3V /Auran use something like Firefox to download it.

Hello PJ,

I am currently using both 2010 and 2012, using 2010 to build with and 2012 to test my route to keep it compliant for both versions for when I release it. Most content marked 2.7 or newer seems to work fine in 2012 as well. I have hardly had to correct anything with those versions and even some older content is working fine :)

I have found that 2012 gives me far superior frame rates than 2010 does. So if you have a choice I would say go for 2012, as 2010 content is available on dls to add in to 2012. I have been very impressed with 2012, imo best version for me yet.

Cheers

What I do is open for edit the asset I want to move in 06 to 10 and then use cmp12 copy asset to add them to 12.

Trainz Simulator 12 NEED HELP

I have purchased the digital download of ts12 but when I go to download it . It says it is an invalid download I have put this to the helpdesk but I need immediate help please help me

First, find your serial number. It should have come in one of the emails, or it might be in your Order History (under Profile, above, on the left side.) Register it Serial Number, which is also under Profile. You will also need it later to actually install the game so keep it handy. After doing that, download each of the 5 files which is also under Order History. It helps a lot to use a downloader such as FreeDownloadManager.

Did it say "thank you" after you were on that screen? It's not showing and it should have processed immediately. Try the registration link in my last post. It should say
"Registered Serial Numbers" and list Trainz Simulator 2012 under that, complete with your serial number.

Well for whatever reason it hasn't kicked in. You might have to wait a while for it to do so. I know First Class Tickets can take 24-48 hours to activate. This is strange though, Auran's download and registration system is pretty fast and responsive. Wait til TS12 shows at the top of your posts.

I just meant FCT's as an example. You could, BTW, still register 06 Trainz versions if you wanted to. Why wouldn't TS10 register?
