2009 Troubles

Hello,

Some have given me advice that I shouldn't knock Auran and all those involved--it's my machine!

Okay, then, why does TRS2006 run flawlessly, and 2009 won't even start! It appears that thus far, nobody in Trainzland seems to have any useful help to offer.

I keep saying that when looking into the task manager, it say that Jet, whether running Direct-X9 or GL, hangs, period! There are no errors in the log to trace. It simply states, Trainz.exe, hangs!

No one, thus far, has offered anything useful to follow. They ask me for system spec! Okay, I'm running an Intel Duo-Core 3.0 gig cpu, 4 gigs of ram per core, an Nvidia 512 meg video card, Windows XP Pro and I have two terrabytes of drivespace. This box is no slouch. Again, TRS2006 runs perfectly!

I have updated everything imaginable! I even downloaded new Indeo codecs, so, please, don't ask me if I did this or that.

I would like to know why 2009 hangs from the start.

And, consider this--I live in Seattle, Wa and the disk which I got in the mail, came from a distributor who lives in New Jersey. It is entirely possible that I got a bad disK. But, I have no recourse except to spend another 36 dollars.

So, having tired everything that I could think of, can someone, out there, tell me why 2009 hangs from the very start.

What fragment of software or whatever, could I be missing?

I'm frustrated so I'll lash out because as everybody knows, software, once open, can't be returned. If I can't get this to work, I seriously doubt that I'll ever buy another Auran product.

I admire the zealots who support Auran but that doesn't sove problems any more than me complaining.

Regards,

srude

Really? Since when? I once had software I opened, didn't work, detailed the problem to the distributor and verified it was a legal copy, I was allowed to send the software back (forget whether it went back to the distributor or the manufacturer) for a replacement of the exact same product.

Detailed above that you're wrong.
For reference, lashing out here alienates people.

Have a look in the "Parts and Labour" section. I think you will get some good info and have better luck with your questions as that is the area most willing (able) to help will be monitoring.

BTY - it's software - ease up and just ask for help . . . it will get you a LOT further. You're new to 2009. . . be humble! ;)

Hello Mr Srude,
.........Or should I call you Mr Angry, I've looked at all your postings, by the way Ctrl/alt/del brings up the task manager, it no longer shutdown the computer.
You obviously know what you are doing, so it would seem you may have a faulty disk, do you have a friend with a computer that you could verify this with?
Why not send it back with a note asking for a replacement?
You have nothing to lose but a disk that doesn’t work!

One last thing, did you go into Options first, then implement the auto upgrade option, to SP1,SP2 ...........just wounded if this might by pass the corrupted data.

I hope this helps in some way.......But don't blame Auran......It's the ones that press and distribute the disks that are at fault.

All the best
Jonathan

Srude try this to see if it will run. Disconnect your internet connection before you start it next time. See if that helps.
