2 track rail bridge problem

Hi everyone.

I'm looking for a high, arched two track rail bridge which can be modified via TrainzObjectz with replacement tracks in my TRS2004 route.

I'm currently using "Bridge 2t Stone", kuid: -1:101374, but I am unable to edit the config.txt file which doesn't show up in the TrainzObjectz asset listings.

In fact, I cannot find any KUID with a "minus" prefix in the TO asset listings. Is there any way of showing these items in TO, or can they be edited in some other way via Vista?

Alternatively, a replacement 2t bridge, editable in TO, in a similar style would perhaps be a better solution.

This screenshot shows what I've currently got. I'm looking for something similar. A darker grey or brown stone bridge would be OK, provided it's a high one and editable to adapt the track to the "Original DGrey Concrete Clear", KUID:98193:10650, shown, leading to the start of the current bridge.

Here's hoping one of you kind experts out there can come to the rescue.

2t Bridge

Kuid 35412:38005 on DLS could be what you want.
Ref. Kuids with minus [i.e -1:] are built-in and can't be modified

Why don't you do what I do - lay the track of my choice where I want the bridge to go then install the bridge and lower it so that it's rails are underneath (out of sight) the running rails. No mods required then.

Yep...that's what I do too. Let's say your track height is 0, just drag a bridge across in a spare space away from the origin of your bridge. Then drop it's spline points by -0.2 and then drag it underneath your original track. Result...the bridge of your choice fitted with the track of your choice.

Same technique can be used with tunnels.

I've now tried the "track over track" option, but it's not worked out to well.

The ballast depth, height and width of my selected track is marginally different to the underlying track. That has produced transparency problems - I can see through the edges of the ballast to the terrain below.

The other problem was aligning the two tracks perfectly. Achievable, but tricky with the viaduct having both gradients and curves on that part of my route. The spacing between the two tracks is also difficult to achieve with both inside and outside curves, where the placing of the spline points is critical.

I'll stick with the viaduct suggested by MchPetch. I've amended the track item in the config.txt file via TrainzObjectz and it works just fine, with no transparency issues. It was also a lot quicker, with perfect track alignment.

Thanks for the idea though. It might be worth experimenting with using track over a road bridge, where the underlying base is flat. One to file away for the future.

Thanks loads everyone.

And don't forget you can also use this technique to lay tracks on top of a "Road Over Rail" bridge. It helps if the track you are using has a good spread of ballast either side, but if not you can cover any visible road up by laying something like "Gravel 1.5 M" either side.Messy but it works.
I could be wrong but I think if you use the Config method and you upload your route to the DLS, the bridge will revert to it's original Config?

I tend to avoid multiple readymade track wherever possible (bridges, crossings and tunnels excepted).

In my early days here I read that it was best to lay single tracks for the up & down lines, and have just got into the habit. Something to do with AI performance issues, I believe, although I don't fully recall the reason.
