1927 Volume Railway and Locomotive Engineering

Electric Love!
I found this in my travels across the web. Not sure if it has been posted on here before, but it contains a lot of technical information on various US, and a handful of UK here and there, locomotive classes, mostly steam but a few early electrics, that I haven't seen around. It also contains very detailed drawings of some of them with measurements and dimensions for anyone interested in modeling one of them. The most interesting thing of all might be the dynamometer car data for some of the steam locomotives for those looking to make accurate steam engine specs. Towards the end of each issue it also has railroad news on orders placed by various railroads to give the modern reader an idea of how many locomotives might have been active in that class in the given era. I haven't looked deeper yet, but archive.org might have other years of it. Original is courtesy of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.

A smart person would search for more of these....1900 till 1928 are up there..... lots of drawings of equipment, locomotives, cars, buildings, terminal layouts....

I found this one looking for information on the VGN's Mullens, WV facilities. The November 1927 edition has about as detailed plans of that facility as a person could ask for. In addition to the 1900 to 1928 volumes there's also a few incomplete volumes from the 1890s on archive.org as well.

Exactly. What better way to get info you need on a certain subject than to have it published at the time it existed by those who built it......

Very thoughtful of you to share this resource, Opus. Thank you. Same to you, Chris, for pointing out there is plenty more to be searched out at this site.
