I used to play a lot of Trainz on an old Mac desktop and later on a beefier Windows laptop that still wasn't too fast, those have both broken and all I have left is my computer for school, a Macbook Air I got a few months ago, new. How well would this run Trainz? Is it worth spending the 60-odd...
In case anyone wondered where I've been, I've pretty much stopped playing Trainz, not because of any major issue with the game but basically just because my interests have changed and I just don't really want to play anymore. Since I've had some good times and some good interactions on this...
I'm working on a route set in rural PA, using a DEM, and the trees put on the DEM around the back of the scene look good, except there will be a LOT of them. Is there a backdrop that looks like the image below?
I remember reading a website some time ago about small shortlines that were generally under 10 miles. I can't find this site no matter what I search. Does anyone know the URL?
I modified this picture of a CSX C30-7 to be a fictional semi-booster engine that has a cab not designed for use in controlling trains, but just for use moving it around engine terminals. A shortline could probably buy a cheap C30-7 and use it for this, thus freeing up engines with better cabs...
I have a lot of faulty YARN intersections in TS12, the error they have is
._intersection.gs(1) : parse error , line 1
... while compiling '._intersection.gs'
Some have different .gs files but they have the same error. In fact, a lot of things besides the intersections have the same problem...
I successfully moved my Trainz files to a new computer but Trainz Mac uses a different build number than TS12, so a lot of my routes are broken. Is there any fast way to fix this that doesn't involve editing every single asset that is broken this way? Also, I'm still getting used to the Windows...
On the Model Railroad Hobbyist forums someone posted a map of US railroads... down to individual spurs. This is clearly an amazing resource and can be found here: http://www.openrailwaymap.org/
Have you wanted to model some unique fictional railroad but could never come up with something to make it unique? This thread may be a solution. I have a few ideas in case anyone is interested. Feel free to add your own below.
A line that serves 2 industries big enough to each have at least 1...
I realized that while I've seen hundreds of pictures of warehouses and small industries, often in industrial parks, I haven't seen many in the UK or other parts of Europe. What is the current state of small-plant traffic there?
Now it may seem silly to thank JR for a flatcar, there's just something I love about towing a string of them especially if they are heavily weathered and old, and there was only one available previously. Thanks for the new one that is this month's Clubcar release.
What would the best way to do this be? I thought it would be cool to put a stone block quarry on my route, but I can't figure out how to do it. I was thinking I'd place a dighole then kitbash the rest with splines, are there any that would work well for this? I want to make something like this:
