Petshopboys's steam engines

Hello everyone,
I have a problem with the steam engine of petshopboys that I am not able to solve: given that I use the cab mode, all too often while driving I remain with the pressure in the boiler at 0 and there is no way to restart, or I start with the pressure at a low level compared to the maximum allowed of the boiler ...

Do you have a solution? If I remain with the pressure at 0 in the boiler, how could I start again (I don't know why the locomotives start with the water level at 100%)?

Thank you for the help.

Nicola

You need to use the blower to maintain the draft through the boiler firetubes. Pressing the N key operates the blower. - increase = N-key, decrease = Shift-N.
Whenever you stop for any period of time you will need to operate the blower. Some engines have not very well written especs so might need to have the blower on all the time. If an engine won't build up steam properly double heading it with an engine that's a reliable steamer will help to bring up the steam pressure by increasing the draft through the firetubes. After a few miles the reluctant steamer should have built up enough steam pressure to carry on by itself.

Hello everyone; I'm reusing this discussion regarding petshopboys's steam locomotives as I have these errors on all BR64, BR80, BR81 and BR86 locomotives:

Is there anyone who managed to correct these errors on TRS2019 SP5 Platinum and explain to me step by step how they did it?

Why don't you try and get hold of the creator, Martin. To the best of my knowledge, he is still active/around, The last I heard, TrainzItalia was helping him out. Worth having a look thru the "Payware" section of the forum...

When I brought the "all you can eat 50Euro's PETSHOPBOYS packages" 6 or 7 years ago, I decovered that alot of the TRS2006 to TS2012 loco's didn't work. At the time I PM'ed Martin and he said that he wasn't going to do anything about fixing those earlier one, (so that they would work in Tane). All the "Tane" loco's worked fine. along with some of the earler stuff...

Cheers, Mac...

Here will you Ibertrainz Site where Martin presents his newest things.

Hi Mac; some time ago I tried to contact Martin, but he didn't prove to be very cooperative in helping me resolve those errors indicated in the previous post, on the contrary, he continued to say that the errors came from some dependencies of the various locomotives rather than in the locomotives themselves...

Hi forester1; are you absolutely sure?
What I used to do was open the config file and remove the reference to the attachment points which caused the error message. It worked fine afterwards. You do however have to keep in mind most of Martin's locomotives were made for the oler versions of the game and during the years n3v changed so many things in the game and especially making CMP a lot stricker on accepting errors. Hence more errors are nowadays shown by the CMP than before. Martin has mentioned he has health issues and deceided to completely stop building content. Zatovisualworks has been very kind to invest time and continue Martin's work partially. But you shouldn't expect martin to be able (although I am sure he would love to ) help out when anybody encounters problems.

Smoke effects should not be deleted, their sequence must be unbroken. All smoke effects after a gap in the sequence are disabled.

The .pfx files are not faulty, and are required for some smoke effects. The problem are the missing attachment points for some smoke effects. There are a lot of the (old) SLW steam locomotives having these errors, and all could be corrected using the same method.

As an example the <kuid:167975:64002122> BR64 DR v2
- in CM open the config.txt file for editing
- find the smoke effect, which don't have an attachment entry (for this locomotive: smoke17 and smoke29)
- the original looks like this
Code:
smoke16
{
  attachment                            "a.smoke9"
  mode                                  "speed"
  maxspeedkph                           40
  scale                                 100
  file                                  "rurki.tfx"
}

smoke17
{
  mode                                  "time"
  period                                60
  loop                                  1
  loopdelay                             0
  scale                                 100
  file                                  "Compressor.tfx"
}
- smoke17 is missing the attachment entry
- the attachment for the previous smoke effect (smoke16) is a.smoke9
- use this attachment, incremented by 1 (a.smoke10), for smoke17
- the corrected version should look like this
Code:
smoke16
{
  attachment                            "a.smoke9"
  mode                                  "speed"
  maxspeedkph                           40
  scale                                 100
  file                                  "rurki.tfx"
}

smoke17
{
  attachment                            "a.smoke10"
  mode                                  "time"
  period                                60
  loop                                  1
  loopdelay                             0
  scale                                 100
  file                                  "Compressor.tfx"
}
- The procedure for smoke29 is similar, using the incremented attachment of smoke28.
- save and close the config.txt, and submit the changes in CM

I have fixed almost all of the old SLW steam locomotives, using this method. Additionally I have updated the enginespec and enginesound for some of these locomotives (classes 01, 03, 18, 44, 50, 52).
Modifications for the class 41 are HERE (in german).

Yes, apologies, I think I was thinking of .fbx files that cause some assets to be faulty. My apologies to everyone and disregard my previous posts.
