You know how a P42 looks like a chamfered box? Well, this is actually a filleted box!

And seeing as how EMD is owned by Progress Rail which is a division of Caterpillar, it sort of makes sense. EMD engines are larger and more universal than CAT for same power, bu the loco needs to fit under GCT in NYC. Thus, smaller engine yields a lower height. Thus, that is why F59 does not go to NY (I think).
