Baking Sketchup Models in Blender

I've heard it's possible, but i need to know how, because i'm practically a noob at Blender. :p

Can you convert the sketchup mesh into Blender. Then put the texture on if you have it seperate.
But can't help really as no idea about sketchup and how it works and only use the Blender Game Engine for my maritime routes and I don't need to bake on the textures. Barry

This article may help you with the Blender side of Normals and Baking:

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Trainz/Creating_Normal_Maps_with_Blender

If you are new to Blender then the Normal maps and Baking are not the place to start, get used to making and texturing simple items in Blender first.

Have a look here:

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Trainz/Tutorial_for_Blender/Tutorial_to_build_a_basic_house:2.65

There are other tutorials available, see the Trainz index on that site.

Making Trainz models in Sketchup is only suitable for very simple assets; due to the way Sketchup creates meshes they can be very high in polygon count and use multiple textures which result in very poor performing assets when imported into the game.

Good luck !
