Just another 2 V Set shots. A 'super 6', part marigold, part candy sits at 'Logiarda' station waiting for passengers to finish loading.
Oh and just gotta add, I love that fact that Davido went to the effort of even including the "Doors closing, please stand clear" audio.

Once more we take a journey back to the days long gone and a figment of my imagination we have arrived at the Lignite valley, where we will see steam ruling the rails.
The following shots are for Dimi and tanvaras, who have asked about my long lost but not forgotten Comp winning Coal Map. I have been going through it replacing faulty items and updating the old trees with newer more appealing looking items. There is a large section still to be swapped from spline to decent trees.

5909 pauses at lignite with 666 pick up goods, its waiting to cross 3265/3237 on the Afternoon Lignite Mail and 5069 and 3801 on the perishing meatball train number 970.

3265/3237 and the Afternoon Lignite Mail work away from Anthracite Junction.

5909 on 666 passes the entrance to Anthracite No3 Colliery.

Ron, first of all I will suggest how it was really transported and rail was not a big part of the answer. Short answer was rubber tyre trucks after war surplus trucks, especially after WW2 war surplus trucks became available.

The 1955 road maps [Shell] at my photobucket site shows more roads than rail within 150 miles of Brisbane. Many of the branchlines in that area were starting to close due to lack of use eg Marburg, Fassifern, Canungra, Dayboro', Tweed Heads, Mulgowie, Beaudesert apart from stock and occasional butter. The Brisbane Valley line lasted a bit more. Darling Downs lines also started to lose traffic. http://s311.photobucket.com/albums/kk478/petanoz/#!cpZZ2QQtppZZ24

The legendary cream road truck was developing in the 1930s. The local farmers were prepared to fit a stock grate to the back of their Morris, Austin, Studebaker, Dennis or Bedfords. These also carried the assorted grains and vegetables. Since they had to carry it from farm to railway station, they soon realised it was just as easily to get the local trucking mob to take it all the way to the Brisbane markets.

One of the people behind the road transport industry on the Darling Downs was John Cyril Anderson, (1904–1983). In 1934 he acquired a Studebaker truck to fetch supplies from Brisbane for the grocery business. The enterprise soon expanded into a general carrying business, later named Western Transport Pty Ltd. More http://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/anderson-john-cyril-12136 and http://westerntransportmuseum.com/about.php

Another reason the many rail branch lines started closing in the era and region you are researching was due to the road tax win for truckers ie the Hughes & Vales case and Section 92 of the Constitution. State taxes soon followed in stages.

Later I will sort out how the remaining rail traffic of your interest area was handled and what rail wagon types.

Perishable traffic wagon which started life as an ice chilled car and later converted to mechanical refrigeration as noted on the webpage. http://www.qpsr.net/cmr.shtml

The 1982 one has some of the old 4 wheel and wooden wagons that might be of interest in the stock, louvre and box varieties as well as open and flat wagons for the 1960s. Pigs, sheep and calves sometimes allowed in larger [ie higher] single deck stock wagons intended for cows / bulls but larger animals such as cows not allowed in double deck sheep wagons due to animals' height.

Love the shots jet pilot! I see you are enjoying the new sparkies as I am. :)
what is the name of that canopy you have on the station in the last shot and is it the only type available? I am building a cityrail route I'm having trouble finding a match for certain things!

Thanks. :)

Another shot from the the Lignite Valley.

5069 and 3801 work the Perfume Express train number 4711. The roster clerk had felt that 3801 needed to get down and dirty and earn its keep by running an express load of bull through the valley.
