Hey guys, how is it going? I was hopin g you could explain why there is a KUID1 and a KUID2?

Also, i have alot of content i downloaded and want to use. I have everything i need, but the KUIDs I need are off by the last number.

Here is an example:
What I need:
Not faulty: Jointed Rail Train Effects library v 0.9c <kuid2:45324:555200:3>

What I have:

Unknown Location: <kuid:45324:555200>
Not faulty: Jointed Rail Train Effects library
Not faulty: Jointed Rail Train Effects library v 0.8
Not faulty: Jointed Rail Train Effects library v 0.9c

This happens with almost everything I download.

so what do i do? s there a way to tell CM to use the updated kuid?

KUID2s tend to be updated versions of an item. For example if I make this
Jointed Rail Train Effects library
It would get a KUID number: <kuid:45324:555200>
this is actually the same as <kuid2:45324:555200:1>

If I then update said asset & release it I want to give it a new KUID number that will tell trainz to use this new one. So I give it a KUID2 number & change the last set of numbers to a higher number such as:
<kuid2:45324:555200:6>

The basic KUID number is also the one used in a config file to reference the needed asset. When it's referenced Trainz will look for the newest version (highest last set of digits)

ok peter put how do i fix the assets that are messed up. can i just go in the config files and change the kuid numbers?

hello to you:

hope its ok to post with you. I know this is a jr kuid but my 2 cents worth please: first in my faulty rail car from jr it has" jr rail train effects library v1.00 with a kuid of 45324:555200:3 was listed as for use with library v1.0. after reading his response he says same as mine but he has v0.9c how can this be. same kuid with different category.

ps I came to this thread I thought it would give me a fix for my faulty rolling stock. sorry my mistake

The version number mentioned in a description can be misleading. What is important is the actual KUID. Make sure the KUID in the problem asset exactly matches the KUID of the librtary that you have installed.

...<kuid:45324:555200> is actually the same as <kuid2:45324:555200:1>…..

Small point here, but I thought <kuid:45324:555200> is equivalent to <kuid2:45324:555200:0>.

<kuid2:45324:555200:1> would obsolete both of those kuids.

I'm happy to be corrected if I've got it wrong.

You are correct. <kuid:45324:555200> is equivalent to <kuid2:45324:555200:0>. <kuid2:45324:555200:1> would be the first update and it would automatically make <kuid:45324:555200> obsolete.

Because of the way this system works, <kuid2:45324:555200:127> is the last possible number in that series. If the creator produced another update it would have to be assigned a new kuid number, for example <kuid:45324:556204> which would have to include an "obsolete-kuid" tag in its config.txt file that would list <kuid2:45324:555200:127> as obsoleted.
