You can clone an existing enginesound and replace those files with your own.

oh ok . . . im just having trouble with them because i keep making a steam enginesound insted of a diesel

let me give you a real answer, its a bit of work but not real hard, you need a wav sound file and record any sound you want, I recommend using a sound editor then exporting into wav. format, open up an existing sound file and see how its made, I made a few myself your welcome to use and edit. ones you learn the bases it's very easy to do.

You might want to just check out a lot of the engine sounds already on the DLS. I suppose every loco is different, but how different? And engine sounds are one of those things that always end up missing and unknown from locos along with horn sounds and bogeys, which everyone seems to think have to be unique to every asset.

I think he's asking "How do I obtain the sounds for enginesounds," not how to CREATE one with existing files or such.
