Google Maps Railfanning Section (READ RULES!)

Nice shots. It would be great to get some between Echo, UT and Evanston, WY. That is a gorgeous canyon! Somewhere around Ogden and Salt Lake City there should be some Utah Belt locos findable as well.

Thanks. Well, they weren't quite the red rocks I remember, but then it depends on where you are in the canyon, I suppose.

Well, I would say this as a combination of locomotive and other type of rolling stocks (and all of them are static display), but anyway here we go:

https://goo.gl/maps/NP4eajUnhEivbkef8

This is the latest shot of newly opened "Arum Dalu Public Space", intended by PT. INKA (the state-owned railway rolling stock manufacturer of Indonesia) to become a place where everyone could gather there. It consists the prototype electric tramcar (the blue ones) and prototype passenger car CW-9x01 "Si Belo Kuda Troya"*1, and there is a plinthed B16 series steam locomotive #B1602 (former Probolinggo Stoomtram Maatschappij #2, Hohenzollern-built) located a few meters to the north of "Arum Dalu Public Space".

https://goo.gl/maps/ZaNDugiK5PNZ3BYE8

Here is the shot of B1602 from other side.

*1: "Si Belo Kuda Troya" itself could be translated as "The Foal of Trojan Horse", with the reason behind this nickname is "to ignite the revolution that breaks the already rotten state of Madiun Workshops" (as the predecessor of PT. INKA's Madiun Factory). Note that "Belo" is the word in Javanese language for foal, as opposed to a mature horse that called by Javanese as "Jaran".

Thanks. Well, they weren't quite the red rocks I remember, but then it depends on where you are in the canyon, I suppose.

It also seems to matter how Google processed the images. Snooping about 10 miles east of Echo, some of the images were much redder than others. One set was very red, others taken at a different time not so much.

Interesting. Thanks Dave, I may have to poke around Google views a bit more. I do remember parts of it being very scenic.

Nice post. I actually went to Google Satellite view to see where Penzance is. I get a little more familiar with the world that way. Looks like a nice place to visit!

I found one of those teeny-tiny switchers that they use over there. I think the running number is 08 0 but, that might just be the wheel arrangement

CC203 21 (CC203 98 09) is seen here about to leaving Weleri station with Semarang Poncol-bound "Kaligung" express train. Although this train is classified as a local train, but it has 2 executive-class coaches and a dining car (which is actually one of those converted from business-class coaches made surplus by the plan for reducing passenger classes into just executive and economy), and it even uses a dedicated electric generator car for powering whole coaches in the train.

[ADDITION]

https://goo.gl/maps/oxmRbnwcQrwJ79jXA

Ngrombo-bound local train "Kedungsepur" is seen here just leaving the Alastua station, located east of Semarang city. This train is the last local train in Indonesia that still uses Japanese-built MCW302 series DMU (based on KiHa 58 series DMU of JNR), with the DMU set used by this train is actually planned to be used on Kualanamu Airport Train in Medan (North Sumatra), only to be cancelled after Indonesian Railways changed the plan for using ex-Prambanan Express DMU (rebuilt from BN-Holec EMU of Jakarta Commuter Division that were infamous for its "prone to trouble") and newly-built DMU constructed by Woojin Heavy Industries (South Korea).

This July 2019 shot was taken by Streetview's car within the area of Butuh station (west of Kutoarjo), which features CC201 77R (CC201 89 05) of Madiun locomotive depot waiting at this station with a passenger train (presumably the "Joglosemarkerto", judging from the presence of newly-built air conditioned 3rd class coaches ordered by Ministry of Transportation from 2010 to 2014). Because this shot was taken during the peak of double track construction project between Kroya and Kutoarjo back in 2019, there is a possibility that another train was supposed to pass the station but temporarily reduced its speed somewhere due to construction works.

https://goo.gl/maps/3vW4MCHi1unW5YGY7

This December 2020 shot was taken near Patukan station in Yogyakarta, where this SSP-203 ballast profiler machine (manufactured by Plasser & Theurer) is seen here stands near the crossover switch (probably waiting for clear to perform shunt movement).

Behind the camera and to the right is the construction of the new Lechmere carbarn. The Green line was extended to Somerville and Medford over shared ROW with the heavy rail. The line has since opened, and if you go out to satellite view, you can see the completed and active transit system. The Street View images haven't been updated yet.
