Z-Flashing Of Terrain?

I installed a copy of the Needles layout off the DLS into my Trainz 22 PE and (hooray!) all the switches work, but I'm getting what I think is called Z-flashing as trains pass through the scenery - the scenery, trains, etc. flash little black triangles at times.

This doesn't happen on other installed layouts (or those I've built myself).

Any ideas on root causes/fixes?

The Needles layout is one of my favorites (I do have a copy of the expanded Needles layout from the Trainz model railroad edition, but it's much larger.

Thanks....

This means that TRS22PE under certain circumstances is so far not compatible with PBR textures under other than basic shader settings, right?

Nope it has to do with the 3d-effect putting textures on top of others that are co-planar and very close to each other. This is called Z-buffer fighting and is caused by the video card attempting to render both textures or surfaces in the same place at the same time but can't and they end up flashing between each other.

This can also be seen when two spline surfaces are placed very close on top of each other or when an assets with flat surfaces is placed against something else with a flat surface. Sometimes meshes can cause this if they are too close to each other such as when there's a night mesh placed in front of a building. The only fix for this kind of issue with asset objects and splines is to move them apart slightly. Usually, less than a 0.10 meter will do it. Unfortunately, this can't be done to objects that have a mesh issue because that's inherent to the model and can only be repaired by the person that created the model.

This issue isn't just a Trainz thing either. I've seen this in Cities Skylines, CS II, Armor 3 and many other 3d-graphics programs and games.
