Yikes! My layouts have been infested with weeds!

Help, my layouts and routes have been infested with a badly drawn weed called "tree oak 02"! Now as an artist it is understood that if you can draw a tree, a person, then you understand art! Whoever put tree oak 02 up for download needs help, my 3 year old niece could have done better! For gods sake, do the right thing and withdraw it from the download station, before it takes over the planet!

I agree! Also, I haven't been checking Trainz 2012 lately, but here is some advise. Delete tree oak 02 from your Trainz, and disable it if you can, to prevent it from downloading again.
Also, do you automatically download stuff from the Content Manager? If so, turn auto off.

maybe Treez Oak 02? kuid:523:1132867, Auran builtin asset.

Version is 2.9 however no thumbnail.. LOL

Thatz the sucker! you got it! built in, can not get rid of it! The worst drawn damn tree in history! Starting to sound like lyrics from a Sex Pistols song from the 70's!

Ahh that tree isn't too bad, as long as its used in the background rather than the foreground than it's more than acceptable, it's far better than some of the 'cardboard cut out trees' you find on the DLS. I don't get what the big thing is against speedtreez, they're far better than the old stuff. Cue flaming ...

The trees I'm not too keen on are the Ultratreez, they are beautiful but the filesize is ridiculous, this one is 24mb https://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS_viewasset.php?AssetID=247643 most routes aren't even that big!

Check out Pofig's trees. They are from his own website but work wonders over the built-ins. The UltraTreez are excellent too even with their big file sizes which are due to the various high detail textures, high resolution meshes, and LOD meshes.

It,s sorted! this freak weed should not be disabled in content! If you do, you can not change it out in surveyor! I suspect that the game engine plants these weeds, as it is the first thing it can find that matches a missing tree in places where a realistic tree was originally planted! If I have offended the artist who produced "tree oak 02" then I have not been rough enough on you! You should go back to the building site you came from and stick to mixing cement!

Ok all this sounds like is you guys are making fun of a content creator who might is/have been learning. What your gonna end up doing is driving him away like dragon and then you guys will feel bad.

So ANYWAY...

If you disable an asset, it does NOT get removed from routes where it is already used, it simply becomes invisible in the flyout menus in surveyor or (in the case of railcars and locomotives) invisible in the list in the Railyard.

We now return you to the regularly scheduled petulant nonsense, already in progress.

I don't think this is from someone who's learning as they wouldn't be able to create anything nearly so complicated, I think it was from some N3V staff, who had to rush to get a quota of stuff done.

Hi Ben, I would normally agree with you whole-heartedly, but please take a long look at this tree. It has boughs larger than it's trunk, It is a colour unknown to science, I beg you now to ask yourself, would you like that tree growing in your front garden? Cruel to be kind was a reference often used in my day. Do the right thing, buy yourself a chain saw, buy a few gallons of gas, chop it up and burn it! I really mean go into the guts of the file and edit it with gas and a chain saw, Zeldaboy and wkwood, know what I mean!

Well it's probably a Chernobyl tree.. :D

Looks to me like one from the Treez DLC for 2009 that was made in response to the many complaints of no native mode Treez for 2009.
need to be careful what you complain about or wish for on here as it invariably backfires. :hehe:

Good evening trainzers. This thread has been quiet for some time, but I just found it now that I have run into the same problem. I think I have found a solution. Just introduce an error into Tree Oak 2 and commit. The various assets that it replaces (try View Asset Versions to see the list) will all turn form being obsolete to status Out-of-date. And, most importantly, they will reappear on your maps! The error that I introduced in Tree Oak 2 is setting trainz-build to 4.0 (instead of 2.9). I would expect this to work for any assets that were overridden by a built-in one. And indeed, it also works for the incredibly ugly speedtrees in TS12. You can now enjoy your TRS2009 routes with the original trees in TS12!
I hope it works for you!

Be aware that this can cause other problems including performance issues. Also, if the asset is used in a multiplayer session, the multiplayer session cannot be used. Also, making a built-in asset faulty may prevent you launching the game as well.

Thanks, Shane. I do not want to cause problems for anyone. The fact is, however, that one still needs TRS09 to enjoy some of the beautiful maps that were built earlier on. And there are people continuing to build in TRS09, and better "simple" trees are being introduced. I still remember the shock when I discovered that maps that I liked very much, were lost in TS12. There are some beautiful trees around for TS12, but the atmosphere of "old" trees is softer. And trees that came alive when you approach them, are simply unpleasant.
Would broken trees prevent the game from starting?

Paul
