Yeah, a NEW Forum Feature

Just thought I may be the first to post this and check it again. We have a new forum feature telling us what versions of Trainz people have. This is something we had on the old forum and was quite handy and I am sure I have read of others wanting it on this forum.

Well done Auran and the Crew, it is a handy feature and much welcomed ... at least by me :hehe:

Wow - the return of the boxcar in network map form...

Very handy when helping those who don't tell you what version of the software they are using.

Also handy for seeing who is slagging off a version of Trainz they don't have (lights blue touch paper and legs it...)

Nothing surprising, the TS2010 and TS2009 indications are clickable and are linked to their website, only TS2010 and TS2009... not the other unwanted ones! Don't need a widescreen for mine. Bought one, need one, happy with one. You know? Perhaps another in good time.

Its very interesting, kinda makes me feel like I can't hide anything here anymore:hehe: I admit it! I have 2010! and still have yet to start using it! 06 is a hard habit to break.

wait, does that mean when they retire the older versions of Trainz I'll lose my icons? don't take this away from us Auran!

But does it show the version if a person brought version XYZ in a shop other than direct from Auran, but decides he/she doesn't require any downloads, and still installs it on their computer, and not to join these forums?

What is needed more is the Free/Payware forums to each be divided in the versions. (And nope I'm not talking about the Maintenance of Way - Support that is divided into different versions)

I forgot to even cast a vote for this small but sudden forum enhancement....

Perhaps I'm being more of pro-idiot by voicing an opinion rather than being a pro-choice forum user; Don't get me wrong, it certainly is a nice little addition to the community while for others would have preferred having such trinkets as this being customizable to choose from under their UserCP options tab or something.

Next thing some user's will be demanding to know why they haven't got a sparkling blue and white striped engineer's hat with their forum name on it in their favourite neon colour.

I like this feature, but it does not show my 2010 for some reason, or my UTC. I'll admit I may never have registered UTC.

Edit: Figured it out.

It's only taken several years for it to be brought back.

Good to see that Auran see the value in it (finally), and we can now help only those who have registered versions.

By that, I mean we can now see if people who are asking questions about Trainz have at least one version of Trainz registered with Auran.

In the old days, I'd only help people who had at least one boxcar in their profile, so that I knew I wasn't helping a warez user.

This new version looks good too.
